UIS soars, BAC active, MWA submerged

Unisys Corp. (NYSE: UIS) shares rose 18.3 percent to $34.72, on volume of four million shares, trumping an average volume of 486,000, after the maker of mainframes reported fourth-quarter sales that topped estimates.

Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC) traded in 101 million shares, making it a volume leader, while only half its daily average. BAC shares were flat at $14.29, as the bank completed the sale of its Balboa Insurance to an Australian concern.

Mueller Water Products Inc. (NYSE: MWA) shares fell 15% to $3.75, on volume of 8.7 million, compared to an average of 1.9 million, after the pipe and valve maker reported a first-quarter loss that was larger than analysts had projected.

CPE gains, BAC busy, TAL goes south

Callon Petroleum Company (NYSE: CPE) shares galloped 13.3 percent to $8.72, on volume of 680,235 shares, or 50 percent more than its daily average, after a recent poll predicting the Miss.-based CPE would outperform the S&P 500 going forward.

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) dealt in 57.3 million shares, rapidly catching up on a daily volume of 87.7 million. Prices improved 1.1 percent to $13.75, on news that BAC is appealing a Nevada judge’s order that blocked 8,900 foreclosures in the state.

Talbots Inc. (NYSE: TLB) shares were off 6.7 percent to $5.57 on volume of seven million shares, compared to a daily average of four million.

BIOF busy, BAC in trouble, EK out of focus

BioFuel Energy Corp. (Nasdaq: BIOF) shares improved 18.1 percent to $1.24, on volume of 384,014 shares, just outdistancing its daily average.

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) exchanged 65.7 million shares Wednesday, compared to a daily average of 204.5 million. Share prices improved 0.3 percent to $13.67, after the bank was sued by mortgage investors over what they called “massive fraud”.

Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK) shares tumbled 16.6 percent to $3.77, on volume of 35.5 million – four times its daily average — after EK reported its quarterly profit plunged 95 percent and revenue tumbled 25 percent on steep declines in its digital business as well as a drop in intellectual-property licensing revenue.

KONE soars, BAC busy, FFIV falters

Kingtone Wireless Info Solutions (Nasdaq: KONE) climbed 14.4 percent in price Thursday to $3.65. Volume of 433,351 shares nearly quadrupled its full-day average. KONE Thursday announced quarterly revenues increased 36.1% to $5.33 million from $3.92 million in the prior year period. Gross profit increased 104.7% to $4.64 million from $2.27 million in the prior year period

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) dealt in 130,095,328 shares, short of its full-day average of 214,812,000. Share prices were flat at$14.38.

F5 Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: FFIV) shares slid 21.7 percent to $108.64. Volume was 12,376,855, far better than the daily average of 2,678,010, after the Internet-traffic software company projected second-quarter revenue below Wall Street expectations.

GENE jumps, BAC busy, COOL freezes

Genetic Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GENE) vaulted 65.8 percent to $5.57 Wednesday. Volume of 538,264 shares trampled its full-day volume average of 17,027.

Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC) was a volume leader Wednesday, trading in 99,658,930 shares, catching up on its full-day average of 217,463,000. Prices for the stock slid back 2.8 percent to $14.59, as lower prices for bank shares weighed on the markets.

Majesco Entertainment Company (Nasdaq: COOL) tanked 17.9 percent Wednesday to $1.15.  Volume for the stock was 1,426,060 shares, three times its normal daily volume. Tuesday, COOL reported quarterly net revenues decreased 2.2 percent to $23.4 million versus $23.9 million in the same period a year ago. During this same period, the Company reported an operating loss of $1.3 million, compared to an operating loss of $5.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2009.
