Response Genetics Inc. (RGDX) prospers on Q1 results

Response Genetics Inc. (Nasdaq: RGDX) saw its shares bolt 21.7% higher Thursday to $2.30, on higher first-quarter financial results. Volume for the stock reached 17,703 shares, or nearly six times its full-day average.

The Los Angeles-based company, focused on the development and sale of molecular diagnostic tests for cancer, reported total revenue increased by 60% to $5.9 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011, compared to $3.7 million for the same period last year.

Response Genetics’ net loss for the first quarter was $0.3 million, or $0.01 per share, compared with a net loss of $2.1 million, or a loss of $0.13 per share, for the same period last year.

Kathleen Danenberg, Response Genetics CEO, commented, “We continue to manage the business with operational discipline and ended the first quarter seeing a marked increase in traction for our recently implemented pathology initiative.”

Danenberg continued, “We believe that the pathology initiative, including digital capabilities to integrate pathologists into the ResponseDX™ testing process, increased test offerings to physicians and additional sales representatives will be strong revenue drivers for 2011 as we approach profitability.”

Response Genetics’ technologies enable extraction and analysis of genetic information from genes derived from tumor samples stored as formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded specimens.

KNSC climbs, HLWX active, STDR swoons

Kenergy Scientific Inc. (OTCBB: KNSC) saw its price double Monday morning to two-100ths of a cent, on volume of 51.3 million shares, better than doubling a daily average of 21.3 million. The Flemington, New Jersey-based KNSC was once known as SpeechSwitch Inc.

Helix Wind Corp. (OTCBB: HLXW) was a volume leader among micro-caps early Monday afternoon, dealing in 65.8 million shares, just shy of a daily average of 71.9 million. Share prices for HLWX boosted 11.1% to one-10th of a cent. The Poway, California-based company is into renewable energy.

Standard Drilling Inc. (OTCBB: STDR) saw its shares go south 50% to half a cent Monday, on volume of 41,000 or double its normal share volume.

ARSC jumps, ELCR fires on all cylinders, GNTA falls

American Security Resources Corp. (OTCBB: ARSC) flew out of the blocks Monday, doubling in price to two-100ths of a cent, on volume of 125 million shares, outdistancing its daily average of 72 million.

Electric Car Company Inc. (OTCBB: ELCR) revved up a lot of investors Monday, trading in 22 million, still quite a ways from its daily volume of 126.4 million. The stock’s price was flat, at however, at one-100th of a cent. The Missouri-based ELCR is a vehicle conversion company that specializes in electric conversions and manufacturing for the livery, fleet and private specialty markets.

Genta Inc. (OTCBB: GNTA) slumped in price 86.8% to 4.3 cents. Volume was 3.5 million shares, nearly quadruple its daily average. The New Jersey-based GNTA is a biopharmaceutical company with a diversified product portfolio that is focused on delivering innovative products for the treatment of patients with cancer.

PSGY makes grade, GERS active, BKPG dogs it

Princeton Security Technology Inc. (OTCBB: PSGY) was among the truly sparkling micro-caps Thursday, adding 66.7% in price to 20 cents. Volume was 106,000 shares, compared to a daily average of 15,831, a day after receiving new orders for its radiation detection technology.

Greenshift Corp. (OTCBB: GERS) traded in 43.4 million shares, making it a volume leader among small caps, though well below its usual average around 144.7 million. Share prices were flat at two-100ths of a cent.

Bark Group Inc. (OTCBB: BKPG) dipped 36.5% in price Thursday to 1.2 cents. Share volume was 289,600, in contrast to a daily average up around 831,000. BKPG is an innovative integrated U.S. advertising network of marketing companies with a multinational client base.

SAVW brilliant, TYRIA towers, CPSV tumbles

SavWatt USA Inc. (OTCBB: SAVW) shot ahead 263.2% to 1.38 cents. The stock was also a volume leader among micro-caps Thursday, trading in 41.5 million shares, compared to a daily average of 1.9 million, a day after the leader in LED lighting technology and the green revolution, signed a 10-year-lease for a new state-of-the-art facility called “SavWatt’s Eco Hub.”

Trey Resources Inc. (OTCBB: TYRIA) traded in 30.5 million shares Thursday, compared to an all-day average of 25.9 million. Prices for TYRIA were flat at one-100th of a cent.

Consumer Products Services Group Inc. (OTCBB: CPSV) capsized 40% in price to 2.1 cents Thursday, on share volume of 69,280, pursuing an all-day average of 105,719.
