OCCF eye-popping, F busy, GENE falling

Optical Cable Corporation (Nasdaq: OCCF) shares gathered 41.9% to $5.25, on 534,791 shares, overwhelming a daily average of 10,781, on word that quarterly earnings increased 47.9 percent to $7.2 million over the prior-year quarter.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) dealt in 26.8 million shares Monday, still trailing its full-day average of 84.3 million. Share prices subsided 0.5 percent to $17.87, on word the carmaker was about to sell $1.137 billion of bonds backed by automotive debt.

Genetic Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GENE) jettisoned 10.8 percent to $3.65 Monday. Volume for the stock was 220,041 shares, or triple its daily average.

DDS climbs, F steady, GENE fades

Dillard’s Inc. (NYSE: DDS) moved 14.8 percent higher Thursday to $43.11. Volume of 5,212,355 shares proved better than five times its full-day average, after the department store chain said it plans to form a wholly-owned real estate investment trust subsidiary to improve its liquidity.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) was a volume leader Thursday, dealing in 70,636,808 shares, closing the gap on its full-day average of 84,309,500. Share prices dipped 1.2 percent to $17.68.

Genetic Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: GENE) shares stumbled 22.1 percent to $3.78. Volume was 353,535 shares, more than six times its daily average. GENE is a leading-edge genetic testing business which, together with an extensive range of international patents and allied research activities, aims at uncovering the impact of DNA on health.

GENE jumps, BAC busy, COOL freezes

Genetic Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GENE) vaulted 65.8 percent to $5.57 Wednesday. Volume of 538,264 shares trampled its full-day volume average of 17,027.

Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC) was a volume leader Wednesday, trading in 99,658,930 shares, catching up on its full-day average of 217,463,000. Prices for the stock slid back 2.8 percent to $14.59, as lower prices for bank shares weighed on the markets.

Majesco Entertainment Company (Nasdaq: COOL) tanked 17.9 percent Wednesday to $1.15.  Volume for the stock was 1,426,060 shares, three times its normal daily volume. Tuesday, COOL reported quarterly net revenues decreased 2.2 percent to $23.4 million versus $23.9 million in the same period a year ago. During this same period, the Company reported an operating loss of $1.3 million, compared to an operating loss of $5.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Citigroup Inc. today announced that it has received requisite consents from holders of CitiFinancial Credit Company’s 6.625% Notes due 2015 and is extending the early tender date and consent date of its exchange offer.

Strayer Education Inc. (Nasdaq: STRA) lost 22.2 percent in Monday trading to $119.30. Volume for the stock was 1,334,882 shares, more than four times its daily average. STRA is an education services holding company that owns Strayer University and certain other assets.
