TSTY tasty, YHOO steady, CIGX less than stellar

Tasty Baking Co. (Nasdaq: TSTY) shares jumped to 146% to $3.96 after Flowers Food Inc. (NYSE: FLO) said it would pay $4 a share, or $34.4 million, for the packaged-sweets manufacturer. Flowers shares grew 2% to $28.21.

Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) outdistanced its daily average of 22.6 million shares by trading Monday in 25.6 million. Prices faded, though, 1.5% to $16.52.

Star Scientific, Inc. (Nasdaq: CIGX) dropped sharply in price Monday by 16.6% to $3.36. Volume of seven million nearly doubled its daily average.

MXC jumping, YHOO busy, SBAY subdued

Mexco Energy Corporation (AMEX: MXC) shares surged 37.7% to $12.74, on share volume of more than 428,000 shares, compared to a daily average around 2,800.

Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) traded Wednesday in 34.6 million shares, nearly doubling its daily average. Prices for YHOO inched back 1.9% to $16.58, amid speculation in some circles that the stock is trading at half of what it should be.

Subaye Inc. (Nasdaq: SBAY) subtracted 12.2% to $7.20 Wednesday, on share volume of nearly 179,000, beating its daily average of about 129,000, a day after announcing it would need more time to file its quarterly results with the SEC.

CDNS higher, YHOO steady, AMP stumbles

Cadence Design Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CDNS) shares rose 7.5 percent to $9.49, on volumes of 10.4 million – more than quadruple its average — after the software maker forecast first-quarter earnings above expectations.

Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) dealt in 24.1 million shares Thursday, topping its all-day average of 18.3 million. Prices for YHOO nipped up 1.7 percent to $16.85, after linking up with Zillow on a real-estate site.

Ameriprise Financial Inc. (NYSE: AMP) shares shed 7.1 percent to $58.07, amid volumes of 6.1 million shares, compared to an average of 1.8 million, after the asset manager’s fourth-quarter profit came in below expectations.

CCME jumps, YHOO busy, GHL red

China MediaExpress Holdings (Nasdaq: CCME) shares leaped 16 percent to $22.69. Volume was 4.3 million shares, compared to an average of 1.3 million, on speculation the company could be subject to a massive short squeeze after short sellers have piled into the stock assuming the company is a fraud.

Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) traded in 28.1 million shares Thursday, compared to a daily average of 17.4 million. Share prices gained 4.2 percent to $16.22

Greenhill (NYSE: GHL) shares dropped 10.1 percent to $73.75. Volume was 1.3 million shares, towering over its daily average of 183,502, on weak Q4 profit.

MSTR a master, YHOO trades, RFMD slumps

Microstrategy Inc. (Nasdaq: MSTR) shares vaulted 18.6 percent to $110.32, on volume of 395,309 shares, or better than four times its daily average. The software maker reported third-quarter revenue of $139.11 million, up 32 percent from $105.8 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Net income was $17.9 million, or $1.60 per share, compared to $20.5 million, or $1.66 per share in the year-ago period.

YAHOO Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) traded in 16.7 million shares Wednesday, very nearly catching its full-day average of 16.9 million. Share prices for YHOO fell three percent to $15.53, after the company’s first-quarter sales outlook missed analysts’ estimates, dragged down by early results from its search agreement with Microsoft Corp.

RF Micro Devices Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD) shares declined 9.3 percent to $6.95. Volume for the stock was 12.1 million, nearly double its full-day average, after the manufacturer of chips for wireless phones late Tuesday reported third-quarter sales that came in shy of forecasts.
