PLAB conducts, WFC trades widely, CSC tumbles

Photronics Inc. (Nasdaq: PLAB) shares rose 14.6% to $7.70, on volumes of 2.1 million shares, compared to a daily average of 558,130 after the maker of semiconductor gears on Wednesday bolstered its first-quarter outlook.

Wells Fargo and Company (NYSE: WFC) traded in 41.8 million shares Wednesday, trumping its daily average of 30 million. Prices dipped 3% to $33.09, after the bank’s CFO left.

Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) shares tumbled 14% to $48.64 Wednesday. Volume was 6.5 million shares, towering over a full-day average of 1.2 million shares, after the company cut its earnings-per-share and revenue forecasts for the full fiscal year.

IPCI aces, WFC busy, MAG ragged

Intellipharmaceutics International (Nasdaq: IPCI) went higher 18 percent to close Wednesday at $6.04. Volume of 181,460 shares ran away from its full-day average of 27,753. IPCI is a pharmaceutical company specializing in the research, development and manufacture of novel and generic controlled release and targeted release oral solid dosage drugs.

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) dealt in 50,557,742 shares, topping its full-day average of 33,984,900. Share prices dropped, however, by 1.9 percent to $31.86. WFC posted net income attributable to common shareholders of $3.2 billion, or 61 cents per share, matching analyst expectations. Last year, profit of $394 million, or eight cents per share, was sharply reduced by preferred dividends paid under the government bailout.

Magnetek Inc. (NYSE: MAG) surrendered 15.4 percent Wednesday to $1.65. Volume of 271,367 shares more than doubled its average daily volume of 106,631. MAG, which provides digital power control systems North America, announced Wednesday it would release second-quarter financial numbers on Feb. 9.

EK in the picture, WFC opens vault, GAGA goes down

Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK) jumped 11.64 percent to $5.32. Volume in the stock was 34,437,094 shares, or greater than six times normal share volume.

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) proved one of the main stocks for volume Thursday, trading in 38,037,913 shares, fairly consistent with its daily average. WFC prices gained a healthy 2.38 percent to $30.07. WFC, based in San Francisco, announced Thursday it has introduced an ATM Cash Tracker service to help customers manage their finances.

Le Gaga Holdings Limited (NasdaqGS: GAGA) was one of the biggest losers on the markets Thursday, dropping 18.53 percent to close at $7.30. Volume ahead of the bell was 510,739 shares, shy of its average of 711,511. The Hong Kong-based GAGA is one of the largest greenhouse vegetable producers in China as measured by the area of greenhouse coverage and one of the fastest growing major vegetable producers in China.
