ITT is it, GE active, CPF falters

ITT Corp. (NYSE: ITT) shares gained 13.9% to $60.10 Wednesday after the defense contractor said it would split into three separate publicly traded companies. Volume of 14,510,255 overwhelmed a full-day average of 1,262,170.

ASTM up, GE with bright volume, ESI falters

Aastrom Biosciences Inc. (Nasdaq: ASTM) shares gained 22.7 percent to $3.19 Monday. Volume of 8,380,362 shares was more than 3 1/2 times its usual volume. The company will be presenting Phase 2 Surgical-DCM six-month results sometime this month.

General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) traded in 51,542,124 shares Monday afternoon, just shy of its daily average of 57,051,500. Prices for GE inched up 0.7 percent to $18.56. GE Energy Financial Services, and Bankers Commercial Corporation, a unit of UnionBanCal Corporation, announced today that they have purchased the first wind farm to start operations in one of the largest wind energy projects in the United States.

ITT Educational Services, Inc. (NYSE: ESI) dipped 12.3 percent Monday to $56.62. Volume for the stock of 1,899,031 shares doubled its daily average, and then some. ESI is a leading provider of post-secondary degree programs.

ADMT gallops, ILNS busy, GCMI trips

ADM Tronics Unlimited. Inc. (OTCBB: ADMT) soared 133.33 percent to 2.1 cents Monday afternoon. Volume for this microcap stock was 1.11 million, overwhelming its usual daily volume of 39,572. ADMT is a technology-based developer and manufacturer of diversified lines of products and derives revenue from the production and sale of environmentally safe chemical products.

Intellect Neurosciences Inc. (OTCBB: ILNS) was one of the busiest microcaps Monday, trading in 78.3 million shares, or nearly five times its normal daily average. Prices vaulted 10.5 percent to 21-100ths of a cent. ILNS is a biopharmaceutical company with an internal preclinical and clinical-stage pipeline and multiple licenses with major pharmaceutical companies.

Geos Communications Inc. (OTCBB: GCMI) took a header of 68.6 percent late Monday afternoon to 1.1 cents. Volume was 381,820 shares, more than 10 times its normal daily average. GCMI is a developer and distributor of mobile applications and communications services.

GKK gets some traction, S trades widely, GNI in the swamp

PSTI leaps, INTC does brisk trade, EDMC sinks

Pluristem Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: PSTI) shares gained 21% to $2.25 Monday. Volume of 1,292,669 shares proved more than eight times its usual volume, on word after National Securities initiated coverage of the maker of cell therapy products with a “buy” rating.

Education Management Corp. (Nasdaq: EDMC) went south 16.7 percent Monday to $13.84. Volume for the stock of 526,570 shares far surpassed its daily average of 351,042. EDMC is a leading provider of post-secondary education.
