RVBD flows, BAC solid, CPF swoons

Riverbed Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: RVBD) shares rose 12.8% to $34.88, on volume of 12.3 million shares, compared to a daily average of 5.4 million, a day after the maker of computer-networking products projected first-quarter earnings above expectations.

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) traded in 69.2 million shares, catching up on its daily average of 152.5 million. Prices slid 1.2% to $13.31, amid a general retreat among bank stocks.

Central Pacific Financial Corp. (NYSE: CPF) dipped 21.2% in price to $15.05 early Wednesday afternoon. Volume of 219,000 shares quadrupled its daily average.

PLL pulls good numbers, AMD active, CPF slides

Pall Corporation (NYSE: PLL) shares charged ahead 11.9 percent to $54.45, on volume of 4.5 million shares, six times its daily average, after an analyst said the looming retirement of the diversified U.S. manufacturer’s chief executive officer could set the stage for a sale of the company.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NYSE: AMD) was on a lot of radar screens Monday, dealing in 31.4 million shares, surpassing a daily volume of 22.7 million. Prices improved 5.1 percent to $7.87, on news from Intel Corp. that there was a design error in a component of the latter’s new chip that will cost the company roughly $300 million in lost revenue.

Central Pacific Financial Corp. (NYSE: CPF) shares were off 7.1 percent to $1.56 on volume of 406,896 shares, 33.3 percent better than its daily average. Friday, CFP announced it had trimmed its losses to $2.1 million, or 14 cents per diluted share, for the quarter ending Dec. 31.

WG wild and good, PFE popular, CPF reacts to proposed split

Willbros Group Inc.(NYSE: WG) shares rose 15.2% to $11.47 Monday. Volume for the stock was 1.4 million, swallowing up a full-day average of 579,364, after Johnson Rice hiked its view of the oil-industry contractor to overweight from equal-weight.

Pfizer (Nasdaq: PFE) dealt in 36.8 million shares Monday, just shy of its full-day average of 45.4 million. Share prices were up 0.3 percent to $18.42, after Mylan Inc. said Monday it is now shipping a generic version of Pfizer Inc.’s heartburn drug Protonix.

Central Pacific Financial Corporation (NYSE: CPF) went south 10.6 percent to $1.61 Monday. Volume for the stock was 584,318 shares, doubling its daily average, after Friday letting out word of plans for a reverse stock split.

ITT is it, GE active, CPF falters

ITT Corp. (NYSE: ITT) shares gained 13.9% to $60.10 Wednesday after the defense contractor said it would split into three separate publicly traded companies. Volume of 14,510,255 overwhelmed a full-day average of 1,262,170.

General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) traded in 31,018,867 shares Wednesday, just better than half its all-day average of 57,041,400. Prices for GE were flat at $18.64. Wednesday, GE Intelligent Platforms announced the PCIE-5565PIORC low profile PCI Express reflective memory node card

Central Pacific Financial Corp. (NYSE: CPF) fell 8.2 percent Wednesday to $2.25. Volume for the stock was 924,167 shares or nearly 4 1/2 times its daily average, only a day after double-digit stock gains.
