DEP surges, C clicks, HSFT softens

Duncan Energy Partners LP (NYSE: DEP) shares climbed 23.4% to $40.17 on share volume of 655,000, more than eight times its average, after Enterprise Products Partners LP (NYSE: EPD) said Wednesday that it offered to buy its smaller rival for more than $2.4 billion.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) traded in 212.4 million shares, catching up on a full-day average of 544.2 million shares. Share prices dipped 0.6% to $4.66.

HiSoft Technology International Limited (Nasdaq: HSFT) shares capsized 23.3% to $24.09, on share volume of 729,000, or nearly triple its daily average, after it announced that it will provide a bad debt provision of $3.5 million, or approximately $0.15 to $0.16 U.S. per ADS, for 2010

TDSC number one, F does brisk trade, KSWS strikes out

3D Systems Corporation (Nasdaq: TDSC) shares zoomed 40.4% higher to $49.36, on volume of 973,494 shares, more than 10 times its daily average, after announcing its Q4 profits nearly tripled.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) traded Thursday in 53.6 million shares, falling short of its daily average of 86 million. F prices were in reverse 0.3% to $15.93.

K-Swiss Inc. (Nasdaq: KSWS) lost 10.8% in price Thursday to $9.98. Volume was 620,716 shares, squashing a daily average of 96,950. The company reported today that net loss for the fourth quarter of 2010 was $20.6 million, compared to a loss of $12.5 million for the prior-year period.

ENSG enviable, ALU alluring, ONSM off

Ensign Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ENSG) shares advanced 14% to $30.35, on volume of 209,000 shares, more than double its daily average, after the operator of rehabilitative centers reported a rise in fourth-quarter earnings.

Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) was busy Thursday, trading in 51 million shares, doubling and then some its daily average. ALU prices improved 1.9% to $5.00.

Onstream Media Corporation (Nasdaq: ONSM) lost 9.6% in price Thursday to $1.23. Volume was 282,878 shares, more than double its daily average, a day after announcing an agreement with Franchise Professionals to create MarketPlace365 for the franchise industry.

DPS pops, INTC active, BBW bearish

Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. (NYSE: DPS) shares rose 5.4% to $36.10, on 3.4 million shares, nearly double its daily average after the beverage maker’s fourth-quarter earnings came in ahead of Wall Street estimates.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) dealt in 41.1 million shares Thursday, catching up on its daily average of 53.2 million, INTC prices improved 1.3% to $22.03. President Obama has summoned executives of various tech companies to the White House for a conference.

Build-a-Bear Workshop Inc. (NYSE: BBW) gave back 11.8% in price Thursday to $6.96. Volume was 595,000 shares, more than five times its daily average, after the retailer reported fourth-quarter net income of nearly $8.3 million compared with a loss of $916,000 in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009.

WTW big gains, MSFT heavy volume, THLD takes profits

Weight Watchers International Inc. (NYSE: WTW) shares surged 41% to $63.32. Share volume was 7.5 million shares, dwarfing its daily average of 303,000, after fourth-quarter earnings more than doubled.

Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT) dealt in 37.5 million shares Thursday, catching up on its daily average of 57.2 million, MSFT prices improved 0.8% to $27.23.

Threshold Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: THLD) gave back 14.9% in price Thursday to $2.34. Volume was 3.9 million shares, nearly 10 times its daily average, after agreeing with the FDA on a Special Protocol Assessment for a Phase 3 randomized trial of TH-302 in patients with soft tissue sarcoma.
