GLER expresses glee; ELCR steps on gas, TEGY trips

Global Earth Energy Inc. (OTCBB: GLER) shares climbed 120% to 1.1 cents Thursday. Volume for the stock topped 31 million shares, or about 15 times its normal share volume, after the company entered a coal mining joint venture worth about $500 million.

Electric Car Company Inc. (OTCBB: ELCR) traded in 194.4 million shares Thursday, surpassing an all-day average of 86.4 million. Prices for ELCR were flat, though, at one-100th of a cent.

Transact Energy Corp. (OTCBB: TEGY) dumped 37.5% of its price to five cents Thursday, on volume of 74,100 shares, 50% better than its daily average. The San Antonio-based TEGY’s business is the development, production, management and conservation of electricity through sustainable electricity projects.


IPGP in the picture, ALU not aloof, MRNA below surface

IPG Photonics Corporation (Nasdaq: IPGP) shares gained 33.6% to $46.42 Thursday, on volumes of 636,815 shares, already triple its daily average, after the Oxford, Mass. company said it expects Q4 revenue of about $100 million, ahead of its forecast of $80 million to $86 million. It expects Q4 earnings of 53 to 56 cents a share, ahead of its earlier view of 30 to 35 cents a share.

Alcatel-Lucent SA (NYSE: ALU) traded in nearly 57 million shares Thursday, trumping its daily average of 16.6 million. Prices leaped 20% to $4.28, after the telecom-equipment group said profit soared in the fourth quarter on rising demand for broadband networks across the globe.

Marina Biotech Inc. (Nasdaq: MRNA) shares declined 28.6% to 80 cents. Volumes of 5.2 million shares made mincemeat of a daily average of 375,934, a day after the Bothell, Wash. company announced that it intends to offer and sell common stock and warrants in an underwritten public offering.


WFMI comes to eat, C steady CSCO bruised

Whole Foods Market Inc. (Nasdaq: WFMI) shares gained 11.2% to $59.77, on volumes of 3.4 million shares, already twice its daily average, after the natural-foods grocer late Wednesday hiked its full-year earnings guidance.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) took its place at the head of the volume parade, trading in 112.7 million shares Thursday, making headway on its daily average of 544.3 million. Prices dropped 0.9%, however, to $4.80, after its Securities and Funds arm swore in a new Chief Operating Officer.

Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) shares declined 12.4% to $19.31. Volumes were 174.1 million shares, obliterating a daily average of 75.4 million, after the networking-equipment giant late Wednesday reported poor quarterly margins.


PRCP pops, NVDA busy, NAK goes south

Perceptron Inc. (Nasdaq: PRCP) shares ascended 18.6% to $6.96, on volume of 771,790 shares, squashing a daily average of 16,880, after being upgraded by Barrington Research from market perform to outperform.

Nvidia Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) traded in 31.9 million shares Wednesday, beating out its daily average of 24 million. Prices dropped 2.4% to $23.29, after the stock gained as much as 38% during January.

Northern Dynasty Minerals Inc. (AMEX: NAK) shares plummeted 14.4% to $17.64 Wednesday. Volume of three million shares overwhelmed a full-day average of 645,000.


WWWW is wow, F drives big volume, AHCI sick

Web.com Group Inc. (Nasdaq: WWWW) shares climbed 19.4% to $11.78, on volume of 1.7 million shares, compared to a daily average of 304,659, after upbeat Q4 results.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) traded in 57 million shares Wednesday, still trailing its daily average of 92.6 million. Prices dipped nearly one percent to $16.08, after announcing vehicles in its Mexican market.

Allied HealthCare International (Nasdaq: AHCI) shares faded 12.6% to $2.15 Wednesday. Volume of 2.9 million shares towered over a full-day average of 99,000, after announcing its quarterly profits were hit by U.K. budget cuts.
