IDSA in orbit, S vocal, CISG capsizes

Industrial Services of America Inc. (Nasdaq: IDSA) shares gained 16.6% to $11.72. Share volume was 263, 718, trumping an all-day average of less than 52,000, after the waste manager reported a higher fourth-quarter profit from the year-ago period.

Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE: S) dealt in 43.9 million shares, catching up on its daily average of 62.2 million. Prices hiked 1.2% to $4.74, after the company spoke out against the acquisition of T-Mobile USA by rival AT&T.

CNinsure Inc. (Nasdaq: CISG) U.S.-listed shares were off 11.6% to $11.97. Share volume was 2.5 million, or more than four times its daily average, after the Chinese insurer and brokerage late Friday said it would sell Beijing Fanhau Datong Investment Management Co. Ltd. for nearly $64 million.

NVGN mushrooms, CSCO popular, TSTY fails to rise

Novogen Limited (Nasdaq: NVGN) vaulted an incredible 145.3% in price Monday afternoon to $2.60, on volume of four million shares, trampling over an average of less than 140,000 a day.

Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) dealt in 30.9 million shares by post-lunch hour Monday, compared to a daily average of 71.5 million shares. CSCO shares sold for $17.31, or just 0.1% more than they closed on Friday, as CSCO showed up on a short list of “insanely cheap tech stocks” posted by the site known as Minyanville.

Tasty Baking Company (Nasdaq: TSTY) fell without a parachute Monday afternoon, losing 14.8% in price to $1.78. Volume of just over 209,000 more than doubled its daily average, after delaying the release of its annual report.

ALU spikes, SIRI serious, OTIV off-track

Alcatel-Lucent SA (NYSE: ALU) shares added 7.7% to $5.75, on volume of 34 million shares, nosing out its average for the day, after the telecom-equipment stock was upgraded to buy from neutral by Goldman Sachs.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) beamed out to stock traders Monday, dealing in 25.6 million shares by noon ET, compared to a full-day average of 53.7 million. Share prices subsided, though, by 0.6% to $1.71.

On Track Innovations (Nasdaq: OTIV) faded in price 12.3% to $2.21 Monday noon, on volume of nearly 489,000 shares, already outdoing its all-day average of 376,797. Monday, the company announced operating profit of $2.8 million of 2010.

EK in picture, C rumbles, CBEH wobbles

Eastman Kodak Co. (NYSE: EK) shares rallied 10.9% to $3.77. Volume of nearly 39 million shares during the morning proved nearly quadruple its full-day average. The U.S. International Trade Commission said Friday it will review a patent decision that went against Kodak in January.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) dealt in nearly 78 million shares early Monday, rapidly gaining on a full-day average of 487.2 million. Share prices for C, however, stumbled 0.8% to $4.43, amid word of a drop in short interest for Citi and Bank of America.

China Integrated Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: CBEH) share prices trailed Friday’s close by 24.6% to $2.83, on volume of 3.8 million shares, dwarfing its all-day average of 853,489.

RURL in a whirl, VRGY in crosshairs, FUQI in a funk

Rural/Metro Corporation (NASDAQ: RURL) shares leaped 36.3% to $17.11. More than four million shares changed hands in the first hour, overwhelming a full-day average around 91,000, after it announced it has entered into a definitive agreement for the acquisition of the Company by the private equity firm Warburg Pincus in an all-cash transaction.

Verigy Ltd. (Nasdaq: VRGY) was among the volume leaders in the early going Monday, trading in 9.1 million shares, compared to a full-day average of 1.2 million. Share prices were up 0.4% to $14.23, amid stories Advantest was to buy Verigy for $1.1 billion.

Fuqi International Inc. (Nasdaq: FUQI) shares fell 5.7% to $3.17. Share volume topped 883,000, trumping its average of 568,635. The Chinese jewelry company again delayed the filing of its restated 2009 results, citing an internal investigation of cash transfers.
