FUQI goes farther, INTC trades widely, LPHI under spotlight

Fuqi International Inc. (Nasdaq: FUQI) improved 14 percent Thursday to $5.73. Volume of 1,098,559 shares was a 40-percent boost on its full-day average.

Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) was a volume leader Thursday, dealing in 37,626,398 shares, short of its full-day average of 55,284,200. Share prices skidded 0.6 percent, however, to $20.89, on word the chip-maker was seen as winning E.U. acceptance for its deal to acquire McAfee.

Life Partners Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: LPHI) shares peeled off 17.2 percent to $12.45. Volume was 539,205 shares, triple its daily average, on word the company is under investigation by the SEC.

RPRX jumps, GE busy, WSTL steps back

Repros Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: RPRX) moved 13.8 percent higher Thursday to $3.13. Volume of 851,490 shares was catching up on its full-day average of 864,758. RPRX’s Androxal drug, meant to treat men with low testosterone, is in clinical trials this month.

General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) was a volume leader Thursday, dealing in 39,598,546 shares, still shy of its full-day average of 54,691,800. Share prices regained 1.2 percent to $18.55.

Westell Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: WSTL) shares stumbled 15 percent to $3.00. Volume was 1,212,492 shares, triple its daily average, on word that its quarterly income edged up 7 percent.

DDS climbs, F steady, GENE fades

Dillard’s Inc. (NYSE: DDS) moved 14.8 percent higher Thursday to $43.11. Volume of 5,212,355 shares proved better than five times its full-day average, after the department store chain said it plans to form a wholly-owned real estate investment trust subsidiary to improve its liquidity.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) was a volume leader Thursday, dealing in 70,636,808 shares, closing the gap on its full-day average of 84,309,500. Share prices dipped 1.2 percent to $17.68.

Genetic Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: GENE) shares stumbled 22.1 percent to $3.78. Volume was 353,535 shares, more than six times its daily average. GENE is a leading-edge genetic testing business which, together with an extensive range of international patents and allied research activities, aims at uncovering the impact of DNA on health.

SOYL green, ELCR in gear, SRRL sinks

American Soil Technologies Inc. (OTCBB: SOYL) skyrocketed 280 percent to 1.9 cents Thursday. Volume for the stock was 50,750 shares, compared to 16,399, its daily average. SOYL develops, manufactures and markets cutting-edge technology that decreases the need for water and improves the soil in the ‘Green Industry’.

Electric Car Company (OTCBB: ELCR) had an exciting Thursday, trading in 50.2 million shares, compared with 82.3 million shares on average. Prices were flat, though, at one-100th of a cent.

Stellar Resources Ltd. (OTCBB: SRRL) fell in price Thursday by 45 percent to 11 cents. Volume of 25,000 shares nearly tripled its daily average volume.

MOBI clicks, FITB active, IBCP tumbles

Sky-Mobi Limited (Nasdaq: MOBI) shot 12.9 percent higher Thursday to $5.83. Volume of 1,239,238 shares proved better than double its full-day average. MOBI operates the leading mobile application store in China.

Fifth Third Bancorp (Nasdaq: FITB) dealt in 73,558,234 shares, six times its full-day average. Share prices dipped 1.6 percent to $14.38, after revealing it had repaid $1.7 billion to TARP.

Independent Bank Corporation (Nasdaq: IBCP) shares slid 18.5 percent to $2.90. Volume was 677,526 shares, more than double the daily average. IBCP is is a Michigan-based bank holding company with total assets of approximately $2.7 billion.
