DNEX up, HBAN active, MILL slumps

Dionex Corp. (NasdaqGS: DNEX) prospered 20.13 percent in price Monday afternoon to $117.93. Volume was 1,176,138 shares squashed the stock’s normal daily average of 62,998, amid word that DNEX is being probed for shareholders in connection with the proposed acquisition by Thermo Fisher Scientific. The investigation seeks to determine whether Dionex and its Board breached their fiduciary duties by entering into the agreement without properly shopping for a deal that would provide better value for shareholders.

Huntington Bancshares Inc. (NasdaqGS: HBAN) traded in 37,557,116 shares, almost 2-and-a-half times its normal daily average. Prices for HBAN pointed downward, though, 4.61 percent to $6.53. The Columbus, Ohio-based bank today announced commencement of an underwritten public offering of $920 million of its common stock. Goldman, Sachs & Co. will act as sole bookrunner and Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. will act as co-manager for the proposed equity offering.

Miller Petroleum Inc. (NasdaqGM: MILL) staggered 13.06 percent to $4.46 on Monday afternoon. Volume was 882,425 shares, four times its full-day average. MILL is a high-growth oil and natural gas exploration, production and drilling company

SHZ shoots higher, THC busy, DANG dinged

China Shen Zhou Mining and Resources Inc. (AMEX: SHZ) climbed 20.90 percent in price Monday afternoon to $4.57. Volume was 4,191,519 shares, more than triple the stock’s normal daily average. SHZ, engaged in the exploration, development, mining and processing of fluorite, zinc, lead, copper, and other nonferrous metals in China, today announced that the Company has received the preliminary 2011 production limitation policy for the fluorite industry from the China Non-metallic Minerals Industry Association Fluorite Committee

Tenet Healthcare Corp (NYSE: THC) had great volume Monday afternoon, with 31,149,189 shares changing hands, almost three times normal daily average. Prices for THC were down 2.03 percent to $6.51. THC is a health care services company whose subsidiaries and affiliates own and operate acute care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and diagnostic imaging centers.

E-Commerce China Dangdang Inc. (NYSE: DANG) stumbled 10.19 percent to $29.55 on Monday. Volume was 2,864,983 shares, compared to its full-day average of 16,833,600. DANG celebrated its IPO last Wednesday.

XODG shoots skyward, GERS deals, REMC falls

Xodtec Led Inc. (OTCBB: XODG) doubled in price early Monday afternoon to 30 cents. Volume in XODG was 209,480 shares, outdistancing its full-day average of 129,201 shares. XODG is a Taiwan-based LED lighting solutions and products provider.

Greenshift Corp. (OTCBB: GERS) saw its volume quadruple its usual daily average, trading in 185.25 million shares. The price was flat, however, at two-100ths of a cent. GERS develops and commercializes clean technologies designed to address the financial and environmental needs of its clients by decreasing raw material needs, facilitating co-product reuse, and reducing the generation of wastes and emissions.

REMEC Inc. (OTCBB: REMC) took a price spill of 89.28 percent to 10.4 cents soon after noon ET Monday. Volume was 57,750 shares was just a shade below its daily average of 65,484.

MCP jumps, GE busy, JTX stumbles

Molycorp. Inc. (NYSE: MCP) progressed 12.28 percent in price Monday afternoon to $35.12. Volume was 4,273,650 shares, once-and-a-half its normal daily average. Molycorp, Inc., the Western Hemisphere’s only producer of rare earths, announced that it has secured the last of several environmental permits necessary to begin construction of its new, state-of-the-art rare earth manufacturing facility at Mountain Pass, California.

General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) did a lot of business Monday, trading in 38,111,289 shares, zeroing in on its normal daily average of 58,764,900 shares. Prices for GE were flat at $17.65. GE today announced its intention to make an offer for 100% of Wellstream Holdings PLC, a leading engineer and manufacturer of high-quality flexible pipeline products for oil and gas transportation in the subsea production industry.

Jackson Hewitt Tax Services (NYSE: JTX) lost 11.56 percent in price to $1.30 just past noon ET on Monday. Volume was 2,000,705 shares, nearly triple its full-day average. Based in Parsippany, N.J., JTX. is an industry-leading provider of full service individual federal and state income tax preparation.

FONR moves up, S loud and clear, WNR skids

Fonar Corp. (NasdaqCM: FONR) jumped 35.25 percent in price Monday to $1.65. Volume was 833,668 shares, 10 times its normal daily average The Inventor of MR Scanning™, based out of Melville, N.Y., announced today that a provider of outpatient diagnostic services (a FONAR customer) and several Stand-Up MRI diagnostic imaging professional corporations (PCs) received a jury verdict in their favor in an anti-trust lawsuit against CareCore National, LLC, a radiology benefits management (RBM) company

Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S) did brisk trade Monday, trading in 35,606,742 shares, catching up on its normal daily average of 48,113,600. Prices for S surged 5.09 percent to $4.43. Last week, S announced that it has signed international 4G roaming agreements with Digicel in Jamaica and Global Mobile in Taiwan, leveraging the global ecosystem for 4G services to enable travelers on the go.

Western Refining Inc. (NYSE: WNR) dipped in price 11.11 percent to $9.44 approaching noon on Monday. Volume was 3,253,715 shares, nearly double its full-day average. WNR is an independent refining and marketing company headquartered in El Paso, Texas.
