BORN soars in price, INTC big seller, UQM sinks

China New Borun Corporation (NYSE: BORN) saw a spike in price of 11.8 percent in Thursday afternoon trade to $12.41 Volume of 903,056 shares is to within sight of its daily average of 1,246,800 shares. The Beijing-based producer and distributor of corn-based edible alcohol in China, this week announced third-quarter revenue increased 26.1 percent to RMB417.7 million ($62.3 million U.S.) from RMB331.1 million in the third quarter of 2009. Gross profit increased 31.2 percent to RMB100.9 million ($15.1 million).

Intel Corp. (NasdaqGS: INTC) traded in 48,084,401 shares Thursday afternoon, approaching its usual daily volume of 67,954,000 shares. Shares of the chipmaker fell back 0.38 percent to $21.00. The company announced its storage division has recently added new major wins with five storage vendors, illustrating the company’s momentum around developing advanced integrated storage features and capabilities.

UQM Technologies Inc. (AMEX: UQM) fell in price Thursday by 3.81 percent to $2.02. Volume of 224,907 shares was still shy of UQM’s usual daily volume of 281, 265 shares. The Colorado-based UQM develops of alternative energy technologies.

EX excels, SIRI dishes widely, ASTM falls

Exelixis Inc. (NasdaqGS: EXEL) improved in price by 29.66 percent in Thursday afternoon trade to $6.12 Volume of 11,806,150 shares proved about 12 times the stock’s three-month daily average. The drug maker Thursday reported interim data from the cohort of patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal, or fallopian tube carcinoma treated with XL184 in an ongoing phase 2 adaptive randomized discontinuation trial (RDT).

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (NasdaqGS: SIRI) was a volume leader Thursday afternoon, with 47,602,492 shares changing hands, against its usual daily volume of 75,126,200 shares. SIRI shares added 3.70 percent Thursday in price to $1.40.

Aastrom Biosciences Inc. (NasdaqCM: ASTM) fell in price Thursday by 22.14 percent to $3.27. Volume of 4,182,850 shares trampled over usual daily volume of 1,068,090 shares. The Michigan-based developer of expanded autologous cellular therapies today announced that an interim analysis of all 86 patients enrolled in the company’s Phase 2b RESTORE-CLI clinical trial shows that the study achieved both its primary safety endpoint and primary efficacy endpoint of time to first occurrence of treatment failure.

LTX-Credence Corporation (NasdaqGM: LTXC) galloped ahead 31.10 percent in price by noon ET Thursday to $7.84. Volume of 6,628,004 shares trumped the stock’s three-month daily average of 531,400. Thursday, it was announced that LTXC was being investigated in connection with the proposed acquisition by Verigy. The probe seeks to determine whether LTXC and its Board breached their fiduciary duties by entering into the agreement without properly shopping for a deal that would provide better value for shareholders.

Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) did a brisk trade by midday Thursday, with 80.3 million shares changing hands, against its usual daily volume of 259,370,000 shares. BAC shares nipped ahead 0.65 percent Thursday in price to $11.69. It was announced Thursday that BAC ranked number one among all banks in the amount of credit extended through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 504 loan program during the last fiscal year.

AstroMed Inc. (NasdaqGM: ALOT) fell in price early Thursday by 9.4 percent to approach noon at $6.65. Volume of 63,500 shares trounced its usual daily volume of 2,998 shares. The Rhode Island-based ALOT reported this week net sales of $18,329,000 and net income of $792,000 for the third quarter of 2010, compared to net sales of $16,658,000 and net income of $683,000.

Irish theme continues with AIB, F in gear, HEAT cools

Allied Irish Banks (NYSE: AIB) gained 9.26 percent in price in early trading Thursday to $1.18. Volume of 3,292,252 shares rapidly approached the stock’s three-month daily average of 5,221,820. AIB announced Thursday that it will issue an Interim Management Statement during the day on Friday, November 19.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) shares flew off the shelves Thursday near noon, with volume of 109,785,493 shares towering over its usual daily volume of 77,227,800. Shares slid 1.95 percent Thursday, however, to $16.35. The carmaker currently the top shareholder in Mazda Motor Corp. announced Thursday that it will sell about 70% of its shareholdings in the Japanese automaker on the Tokyo stock market Friday, but the two automakers are expected to maintain their strategic alliance.

SmartHeat Inc. (NasdaqGM: HEAT) fell in price early Thursday by 10.71 percent to $5.05. Volume of 1,885,516 shares proved nearly five times its average for a full day. The company announced Thursday the pricing of its previously announced public offering of 5,000,000 shares of its common stock pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement at a public offering price of $5.00 per share. The transaction is expected to close on or about November 23.

EXMT zooms, CHTL trades widely, ENRJ stalls

Anything Technologies Media Inc. (Pink Sheets: EXMT) saw its share price climb 2,508.7% to 12 cents. Volume was a scant 835 shares, however.

China Tel Group Inc. (OTCBB: CHTL) was a volume leader among micro-caps Thursday, trading in 887,279 shares. Shares, though were flat in Thursday trading at 17 cents. CHTL announced Tuesday that it has entered into two related stock subscription and shareholder agreements with Shanghai Ying Yue Network Technology Ltd and Azur Capital under which ChinaTel will control approximately 34,000 km of fiber optic cable that connects all major population centers within the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

Enerjex Resources, Inc. (OTCBB: ENRJ) dipped in price 86.67 percent in early Thursday trading to six cents. Volume was 600 shares.
