THLD breaks down door, INTC active, DRWI scorched

Threshold Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: THLD) shares gained 16.9 percent to $2.01 Thursday. Volume was 606,335, triple its full-day volume average. THLD is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of drugs targeting Tumor Hypoxia, the low oxygen condition found in microenvironments of most solid tumors.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) traded in 47,608,915 shares Thursday, catching up to its daily average of 55,807,500. Prices for the chip maker were off 0.3 percent to $21.24.

DragonWave Inc. (Nasdaq: DRWI) fell 15.4 percent Thursday to $7.33 Volume for the stock was 3,399,796 shares proved nearly seven times its full-day average. Wednesday, the Ottawa-based DRWI announced quarterly figures showing revenue of $27.0 million, compared with $51.6 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2010. Net loss in the third quarter of fiscal year 2011 was $0.05 million, compared to net income of $11.6 million in the prior-year quarter.

BIOD, MU climb, YMI stalls

Biodel Inc. (Nasdaq; BIOD) shares gained 29.6 percent to $2.51 Thursday. Volume was 5,866,108, nearly six times its full-day volume average. The company is expected to issue a corporate update today, to include detailed information about the development of follow-on formulations of its lead product Linjeta.

Micron Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) traded in 44,726,493 shares Thursday, better by half its daily average. Prices for MU were up by 4.34 percent to $9.74, after a Baird analyst upgraded the memory chip maker citing stabilizing prices and a strong outlook for NAND flash memory chips.

YMI BioSciences Inc. (AMEX: YMI) fell 16.3 percent Thursday to $2.21 Volume for the stock was 836,963 shares, better than twice its full-day average. The Canadian-based YMI is a drug development company advancing three clinical-stage products.

TMED leads pack, CMGR trades, SBJX sinks

Trimedyne Inc. (OTCBB: TMED) rocketed upward 65.2 percent to 19 cents Thursday. Volume for the stock was 68,480 shares, or nearly four times its normal full-day average. TMED is engaged in the development, manufacturing and marketing of 80 and 30 watt Holmium ‘cold’ pulsed lasers.

Camelot Entertainment Group Inc. (OTCBB: CMGR) traded in 44.3 million shares soon after Thursday’s open, compared to a full-day average of 320.9 million. Prices were stable at one-100th of a cent. The company is involved in studio work for film and television.

Subjex Corp. (OTCBB: SBJX) took its lumps Thursday, falling 58 percent in price to 37-100ths of a cent. Volume was 20,000 shares, still with ground to make up on its average of 131,265. SBJX is a Minnesota Corporation formed in 1999, for the creation, custom development and incubation of ‘outside the box’ artificial intelligence technologies.

EXFO excels, C steady, LEDS falls

Exfo Inc. (Nasdaq: EXFO) shares gained 21.7 percent to $9.21 Thursday. Volume was 1,068,654, leaps and bounds better than its full-day volume average of 34,688, after the Canadian telecom-testing-equipment maker reported first-quarter earnings that exceeded its own forecast.

Citigroup (NYSE: C) traded in 179,303,239 shares Thursday, about a third its daily average of 547,887,000. Prices for C were flat at $5.07.

SemiLEDS Corporation (Nasdaq: LEDS) fell 33 percent Thursday to $19.17 Volume for the stock was 4,007,597 shares, eight times its full-day average. The company said new pricing pressures will lead to slimmer profit and revenue for the newly-public company over the next three months.

FUL fully wonderful, AA busy, LAS in reverse

H.B. Fuller Co. (NYSE: FUL) stock was up 15.1 percent to $23.00 after the adhesives manufacturer projected 2011 profit exceeding the consensus estimate. Volume for the stock was 1,386,133 shares, compared to its daily average of 225,469

Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA) traded in 42,082,114 shares Wednesday, besting its daily average of 26,060,100. Prices for AA were flat at $16.24. Wednesday, an analyst at RBC Dominion Securities downgraded the stock to “underperform” from “sector perform.”

Lentuo International Inc. (NYSE: LAS) fell 6 percent Wednesday to $5.76 Volume for the stock was 161,996 shares, surpassing its daily average of 97,159. LAS is the largest non-state-owned automobile retailer in Beijing.
