CONN conquers, F popular, GFC sags

Conn’s Inc. (NasdaqGS: CONN) soared 18.89 percent to $3.84 in afternoon trading Thursday. Volume 503,156 shares nearly doubled its normal full-day average volume. Consumer electronics chain Conn’s Inc. said Thursday that its third-quarter loss narrowed to $5.1 million, or 23 cents per share, compared with a loss of $14.4 million, or 64 cents per share, during the same period a year prior

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) had great volume Thursday afternoon, dealing in 60,101,842 shares, rapidly catching up on its full-day average of 83,619,400. Ford shares advanced 2.34 percent to $16.84. The carmaker announced today that consumer demand for its new lineup of fuel-efficient vehicles triggered a 24-percent sales increase in November, compared with a year ago, according to a news release from the company. Ford sold 147,338 units last month.

Genova Financial Group Ltd. (NYSE: GFC) dropped 13.69 percent in price early afternoon Thursday to $22.00, on volume of 87,124 shares, or nearly eight times its full-day average. The Bermuda-based bank announced last month a share consolidation on the basis of one ordinary share for every five ordinary shares of the company

KUTV sings, LVS deals, CYDE goes south

Ku6 Media Co., Ltd.(NasdaqGM: KUTV) gained in price 26.66 percent to $7.60 in afternoon trading Thursday. Volume was 503,156 shares, more than 11 times its normal full-day average volume. Ku6 Media Co., Ltd. operates as an online video company in the People’s Republic of China.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) had great volume Thursday afternoon, dealing in 68,612,504 shares, more than double its full-day average of 33,340,400. Shares dropped 4.32 percent, however, to $49.12. LVS’ Hong Kong- listed unit Sands China Ltd. said the Macau government rejected an application to develop the final two land parcels in its China expansion plan.

CyberDefender Corporation (NasdaqGM: CYDE) dropped 14.89 percent early afternoon Thursday to $2.80, on volume of 229,988 shares, more than six times its full-day average. The Los Angeles-based CYDE, a provider of Internet security software today announced the award of a patent on its Threat Protection Network.

MOV moves, S does brisk trade, CN sheds in price

Movado Group Inc. (NYSE: MOV) gained in price 21.99 percent to $15.20 in early afternoon trading Thursday. Volume was 176,688 shares, more than double its normal full-day average volume. The company based in Paramus, N.J., said Thursday that it earned $16.9 million, or 68 cents per share, for the three months ended Oct. 31. That compares with a loss of $20.9 million, or 85 cents per share, a year ago.

Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE: S) had great volume leaders Thursday afternoon, dealing in 87,500,069 shares, more-than double its full-day average of 44,845,900. Shares nudged up 4.38 percent to $3.93. Digi International today introduced the industry’s first commercial-grade integrated 4G routers – the Digi Connect WAN 4G and ConnectPort X4 4G. Certified by Sprint and Clearwire, the routers provide next generation, high-speed, low latency connectivity via 4G networks to remote sites, devices and device/sensor networks.

CNinsure Corp. (NasdaqGS: CISG) dropped 21.17 percent early afternoon Thursday to $17.46, on volume of 1,560,720 shares, nearly twice-and-a-half its average daily volume. The Chinese-based CISG is a leading independent insurance intermediary company.

GKK grand, INTC in the chips, RPRX gets stung

Gramercy Capital Corp. (NYSE: GKK) gained 12.09 percent to close Wednesday at $2.04. Volume of 431,895 shares was slightly less than average.

Intel Corp. (NasdaqGS: INTC) traded Wednesday in 52,197,726 shares, less than its daily share average of 62,444,600. Shares nudged up 1.52 percent to $21.48. INTC 52-week price peak is around $24.37

GIGA gallops, MSFT heavy volume, ICGN pained

Gigatronics Inc. (NasdaqCM: GIGA) gained 18.72 percent to $2.60 at Wednesday’s close Volume was 103,119 shares, whereas its normal daily volume is 8,531. The San Ramon, Calif.-based GIGA announced today that it has received orders in excess of $4.8 million to supply microwave test equipment for the automation of production at contract manufacturers in China. The products supplied are part of Giga-tronics’ microwave signal switching family. These orders are expected to ship this Fiscal Year.

Microsoft Corp. (NasdaqGS: MSFT) Wednesday traded in 72,816,781 shares, slightly better its daily share average of 61,957,100. Shares nudged up 3.1 percent to $26.04. MSFT

Icagen Inc. (NasdaqGM: ICGN) dropped 13.76 percent in Wednesday afternoon trading, to $1.88, on volume of 2,640,381 shares, compared to its average daily volume of 171,532. The North Carolina-based ICGN today provided an update on its sodium channel program for pain and related disorders which is being conducted in collaboration with Pfizer. Based upon data obtained in this study, the companies have now selected one of these compounds to advance into further clinical studies. The selection of this compound has triggered a milestone payment to Icagen of $1.0 million.
