ICGN up on upgrade, MSFT active, TESS is less

Icagen Inc. (Nasdaq: ICGN) ballooned in price 43.6 percent to $3.26 Wednesday afternoon. Volume of 3,889,370 shares dwarfed a full-day volume average of around 300,000. MLV Capital Tuesday upgraded ICGN from Hold to Buy.

Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT) traded Wednesday in 33,974,878 shares, better than half its full-day average of 54,463,100. Prices for the stock dipped 1.1 percent to $28.36.

TESSCO Technologies Incorporated (Nasdaq: TESS) toppled 17.1 percent Wednesday to $13.40. Volume for the stock was 127,818 shares, seven times its normal daily volume. TESSCO and GE announced Wednesday they would work together to produce crash-avoidance systems that stop trains without an engineer’s intervention.

BNVI gains, MSFT active, CVVT falls hard

Bionovo Inc. (Nasdaq: BNVI) shares jumped 34.9 percent to $1.41 Thursday afternoon. Volume was 666,578, or nearly four times its full-day volume average. BNVI is a pharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of safe and effective treatments for women’s health and cancer.

Microsoft Inc. (Nasdaq: MSFT) traded in 53,058,639 shares Thursday, just a shade below its daily average of 57,799,300. Prices for the software maker tailed off 1.5 percent to $28.11.

China Valves Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: CVVT) got beaten up 16.3 percent Thursday to $7.30. Volume for the stock was 2,744,317 shares or more than five times its full-day average. CVVT is a leading Chinese metal valve manufacturer, based in Zhengzhou.

BRN gains momentum, MSFT has good volume, FRBK loses air

Barnwell Industries Inc. (AMEX: BRN) shares gained 23.6% to $7.50 Wednesday. Volume of 183,617 shares dwarfed its full-day average of 9,411. Barnwell engages in oil and natural gas exploration, development, production and sales in Canada.

Microsoft Inc. (Nasdaq: MSFT) traded in 42,033,218 shares Wednesday, approaching its daily average of 57,414,000. Prices for MSFT nudged ahead 1.2 percent to $28.45.

Republic First Bancorp. (Nasdaq: FRBK) fell 8 percent Wednesday to $2.75 Volume for the stock was 132,273 shares, or about 2 1/2 its daily average. FRBK is a full-service, state-chartered commercial bank with offices and branches throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

HILL climbs, MSFT busy, CPLA schooled

Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: HILL) shares gained 28.6% to $2.43 Monday. Volume of 1,025,822 shares proved more than six times its usual volume, on word that the Colorado-based storage solutions company projects fourth-quarter net revenue in the range of $65.0 to $65.5 million, compared to previous guidance of $58.0 to $62.0 million. Non-GAAP gross margin is expected to be in the range of 21% to 22%, compared to previous guidance of 19% to 20%.

Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) did great volume Monday, trading in 31,172,497 shares, more than half its daily average of 57,160,700. Prices for MSFT demurred 1.4 percent to $28.20. Microsoft Corp. today announced that business-critical Windows 7 applications for the retail and hospitality industry will be demonstrated in its booth (No. 836) this year at the National Retail Federation’s 100th Annual Convention & Expo.

Capella Education Company (Nasdaq: CPLA) sustained a loss of 18.4 percent Monday to $54.79. Volume for the stock was 956,579 shares or nearly quadruple its daily average. CPLA provides exclusively online post-secondary education through its wholly-owned subsidiary Capella University.

BTC soars, MSFT deals, ANTP fazed

Community Bankers Trust Corp. (AMEX: BTC) grew 36.1 percent in price Thursday to $1.47. Volume of 253,884 shares better than tripled its normal volume. Virginia-based BTC the holding company for Essex Bank.

Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) traded in 65,285,889 shares traded, surpassing its daily average of 56,645,700. Prices for the stock gained 2.5 percent to $28.96. Thursday, MSFT unveiled the next generation of the Microsoft Surface experience featuring PixelSense technology.

Phazar Corp. (Nasdaq: ANTP) fell 17 percent in Thursday trading to $4.48. Volume for the stock was 51,639 shares, short of its daily average of 63,499, after announcing it was dropping its True Mesh Network Radio program.
