BSET comfortable, INTC trades, ICGN slumps

Bassett Furniture Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: BSET) climbed 28.6 percent to $5.85. Volume was 151,374 or seven times its normal daily volume, on quarterly sales of $66.0 million as compared to $59.5 million the year before, an increase of 10.9%. The Company reported net income of $1.9 million, or $0.17 per share, as compared to net income of $2.6 million, or $0.22 per share in the prior-year quarter.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) traded in 28.1 million shares Thursday, building toward a daily average of 55.1 million. Share prices eked up 0.4 percent to $21.83.

Icagen Inc. (Nasdaq: ICGN) shares chucked 8 percent to $2.89 Thursday, on volume of 315,271 shares, trailing its daily average of 489,397.

MCBF in green, INTC popular, SLAB slips

Monarch Community Bancorp (Nasdaq: MCBF) shares skyrocketed 65.4 percent to $2.20, on volume of 153,590 shares, dwarfing a daily average of less than 5,000. Tuesday, the bank returned to profitability in the fourth quarter of 2010, after six successive quarters of losses. Net income for the quarter was $76,934, compared to a loss of $(17.5) million for the same period a year ago.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) exchanged 18.8 million shares Wednesday, compared to a daily average of nearly 55 million. Share prices improved 1.2 percent to $21.82, after the company was upgraded at BMO from Market Perform to Outperform.

Silicon Laboratories Inc. (Nasdaq: SLAB) shares dove 9.1 percent to $43.28, on volume of 1.3 million – nearly three times its daily average — after reporting revenue of $112 million for the fourth quarter and record revenue for the full year of $493 million.

SILC smooth, INTC exchanges lots of chips, RSH hits static

Silicom Ltd. (NASDAQ: SILC) shares rocketed 18.1% to $20.91 Monday. Volume was 123,735, already three times its daily average on reporting quarterly revenues reached $9.9 million, a new record for the Company. This is an increase of 45% compared with $6.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2009. Net income was a record $2.0 million, up 45% compared with $1.4 million, for the fourth quarter of 2009.

Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) dealt in 21,422,815 shares Monday, gaining on its full-day average of 54,496,100. Share prices moved higher one percent to $21.02, on declaring a an 18.12-cent-per-share quarterly dividend.

RadioShack Corp.(NYSE: RSH) shares fell 13%  to $15.33 Monday, after the consumer-electronics retailer said Chief Executive Officer Julian Day would step down in May. Volume for the stock was 4,619,640 shares, surpassing its full-day average of 3,282,280.

FUQI goes farther, INTC trades widely, LPHI under spotlight

Fuqi International Inc. (Nasdaq: FUQI) improved 14 percent Thursday to $5.73. Volume of 1,098,559 shares was a 40-percent boost on its full-day average.

Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) was a volume leader Thursday, dealing in 37,626,398 shares, short of its full-day average of 55,284,200. Share prices skidded 0.6 percent, however, to $20.89, on word the chip-maker was seen as winning E.U. acceptance for its deal to acquire McAfee.

Life Partners Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: LPHI) shares peeled off 17.2 percent to $12.45. Volume was 539,205 shares, triple its daily average, on word the company is under investigation by the SEC.

YGE in the green, INTC in groove, EMMS in doldrums

Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. (NYSE: YGE) showed a lot of energy Tuesday, advancing 9.6 percent in price to $11.52. Volume was a hefty 6,437,078 shares, or nearly twice its full-day volume average. YGE is a leading solar energy company and one of the world’s largest vertically integrated photovoltaic manufacturers.

Intel Inc. (Nasdaq: INTC) got the word out Tuesday, trading in 41,828,185 shares, shy of its full-day average of 55,659,500. Prices for the stock were flat at $21.08. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer wants to cut corporate income and business equipment taxes as well as expanding breaks for INTC and other manufacturers.

Emmis Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: EMMS) fell 11 percent to $1.05. Volume for the stock was 320,382 shares, just a shade below its all-day average of 342,520.
