GASS cooking, SIRI busy, UFPT underwhelms

StealthGas, Inc. (Nasdaq: GASS) shares jumped 7% to $7.01, on share volume of 52,000, pursuing a daily average of 72,429, after announcing net income of $11.1 million or $0.51 per share for fiscal 2010.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) traded in 17.7 million shares Wednesday, compared to an all-day average of 51.1 million. Prices for SIRI subsided 1.7% to $1.69.

UFP Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPT) shares slid 8% to $16.83, on share volume of 171,346, surpassing its daily average of 131,717, after it reported yearly net income of $9.2 million or $1.37 per diluted common share outstanding, 56% higher than net income of $5.9 million or $0.94 per diluted common share outstanding for its 2009 fiscal year.

ECDC rockets, OPTZ trucks along, NWCN falls

East Coast Diversified Corp. (OTCBB: ECDC) skyrocketed today, surging 354.6% in price to five cents. Volume for the stock was 893,240 shares, compared to a daily average of 93,135, after the Atlanta-based company announced purchase order and shipment to iFleet, a division of MukriCo LTD for monitoring of oil tankers in  Tanzania.

Optimized Transportation Management Inc. (OTCBB: OPTZ) traded in 49.5 million shares Thursday, more than doubling its daily average. Prices for OPTZ fell 18.2% to nine-100ths of a cent. OPTZ is a Pittsburgh-based supply chain logistics company.

Network CN Inc. (OTCBB: NWCN) dropped 75% of its price strength Thursday to five cents. Volume was 32,700 shares, catching up on its daily average of 33,129. The company is engaged in providing out-of-home advertising in China, serving the needs of branded corporate customers.

WMB jumps, BRCD gets word out, ULBI reports

Williams Companies Inc. (NYSE: WMB) shares gained 7% to $29.71. Share volume was 27.3 million, or better than quadruple its daily average, a day after it said it would divide its pipeline and exploration business into two separate public companies.

Brocade Communication Systems (Nasdaq: BRCD) sold like hotcakes Thursday, trading in 28.5 million shares Thursday, already doubling its daily average. BRCD prices grew 5.3% to $6.03, with earnings set to be released after Thursday’s closing bell.

UltraLife Corporation (Nasdaq: ULBI) plummeted 11.1% in price Thursday to $5.44. Volume was 395,000 shares, better than triple its daily average, on reporting quarterly operating income of $1.6 million on revenue of $50.4 million.

CAGC jumps, BAC busy, QTWWD slips

China Agritech, Inc. (Nasdaq: CAGC) shares advanced 7.3% to $7.96, on share volume of 584,738, already besting a full-day average of 417,211 after the company announced it is introducing an innovative new line of organic liquid compound fertilizers that improves crop drought resistance.

Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) proved a volume champion early on Thursday, trading in 30.1 million shares Thursday, approaching a daily average of 188 million. Share prices settled 0.2% to $14.81, after announcing Nexen had hired BAC to find B.C. Shale Gas Partners.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technological (Nasdaq: QTWWD) sank 15.6% in price Thursday to $5.04. Volume was 492,000 shares, trouncing a daily average of 59,000.

CLF scales cliff, INTC steady, SUTR less than super

Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: CLF) shares gained 5.8%, to $92.55, on volume of 3.4 million shares, nosing out its daily average of 3.2 million. CLF is enjoying a rally among metals-mining stocks after data showed a jump in Chinese imports of iron ore, copper and other industrial commodities.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) dealt in 37.2 million shares Monday, trailing a daily average of 54.5 million. Prices for the chip-maker drifted lower 0.8% to $21.59, after announcing an investment in half a dozen mobile technology companies.

Sutor Technology Group Ltd. (Nasdaq: SUTR) toppled in price by 11% Monday to $1.94. Volume for SUTR was 497,116 shortly before the close, or nearly five times its average, after announcing quarterly revenues of $99.4 million, compared to $115.2 million for the same period last year, or 13.7% lower.
