MITD soars, WLSI high volume, SGGV slumps

MIT Holding Inc. (OTCBB: MITD) climbed 400 percent Thursday to 3.5 cents. Volume was 15,120 shares, eclipsing its full-day average of 6,023. The Company, through its three wholly-owned subsidiaries, distributes wholesale pharmaceuticals, administers intravenous infusions, operates an ambulatory center where therapies are administered, and sells and rents home medical equipment.

Wellstar International Inc. (OTCBB: WLSI) traded widely in 71.22 million shares, outdistancing its daily average of 66.6 million. Prices were flat, though, at one-100th of a cent. WLSI is a provider of specialized diagnostic software and equipment.

Sterling Group Ventures Inc. (OTCBB: SGGV) plummeted 53.85 percent Thursday to six cents. Volume for the stock was 89,500, trampling a daily average of 3,415.

ACLS excels, MSFT gains, THLD throttled

Axcelis Technologies Inc. (NasdaqGS: ACLS) gained 12.91 percent in price Thursday to $3.41. Volume of 1,723,617 shares nearly doubled its full-day average.  The Mass-based ACLS announced that its IntegraTM ES plasma dry strip system has been selected as the process tool of record by one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers.

Microsoft Corp. (NasdaqGS: MSFT) traded Thursday in 32,635,809 shares, or about half its full-day average. MSFT share prices gained 0.22 per cent, to $27.90. Microsofts’s board of directors Wednesday declared a quarterly dividend of $0.16 per share.

Threshold Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NasdaqCM: THLD) lost 10.61 percent Thursday to $1.18. Volume of 236,558 shares more than tripled its full day average. The California-based THLD is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of drugs targeting Tumor Hypoxia, the low oxygen condition found in microenvironments of most solid tumors.

OCZ takes off, BAC busy, RGS misfires

OCZ Technology Group Inc (NasdaqCM: OCZ) gained 16.55 percent in price Thursday to $4.79. Volume of 3,360,842 shares trampled its full-day average of 187,183. San Jose-based OCZ, a leading provider of high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs) and memory modules for computing devices and systems, today announced that certain shareholders of OCZ Technology Group, Inc. have signed definitive agreements with various institutional and accredited investors for the sale of OCZ common stock. OCZ will not receive any of the proceeds of such sale.

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) traded Thursday in 135,742,489 shares, catching up on its daily average of 211,203,000. BAC share prices gained 3.13 per cent, to $12.68.

Regis Corp. (NYSE: RGS) reversed 10.31 percent Thursday to $16.44. Volume of 3,063,146 shares more than tripled its full day average. RGS is the global leader in the $150-$170-billion hair care industry.

CO with healthy gain, C chugs, MSB suffers malaise

China Cord Blood Corporation (NYSE: CO) gained 13.12 percent in price Thursday to $3.62. Volume of 321,351 shares trumped its full-day average of 205,100. CO, the first and largest cord blood banking operator in China, today announced that the Company will hold its annual general meeting of record at the Company’s Hong Kong office on February 18, 2011

Citigroup, Inc. (NYSE: C) traded Thursday in 304,577,005 shares, rapidly catching up on its daily average of 544,597,000. Share prices lurched backward 0.65 per cent, to $4.56.

Mesabi Trust (NYSE: MSB) surrendered 13.47 percent Thursday to $46.00. Volume of 1,367,117 shares more than tripled its full day average. MSB is a stock, with various holding interests in iron ore properties.

SKH flies, F revamps, INUV falls short

Skilled Healthcare Group, Inc. (NYSE: SKH) gained 13.14 percent in price Wednesday to $7.92. Volume of 832,604 shares doubled its daily average. SKH based in Foothill Ranch, California, is a holding company with subsidiary healthcare services companies.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) traded Wednesday in 44,739,430 shares, which, while making it a volume leader, fell short of its daily average of 84,900,700. Share prices stepped forward 0.79 per cent, to $16.55. Ford announced Wednesday its Michigan Assembly Plant has completed a $550-million transformation that makes it the world’s first factory to build not only fuel-efficient gas-powered cars, but also three electrified vehicles including battery electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid.

Inuvo, Inc. (AMEX: INUV) surrendered 16.86 percent Wednesday to close at $4.98. Volume of 41,570 shares compared unfavorably to its daily average of 149,185. INUV is leading provider of online marketing services.
