HAFC happy, MU busy, PSTI skids

Hanmi Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: HAFC) shares leaped 42.7 percent to $1.67 Thursday, on volume of 4.8 million shares, nearly five times its full-day average, on reports of quarterly profit of $5.3 million, its first quarter of black ink in two years.

Micron Technology (Nasdaq: MU) traded in 21 million shares Thursday, making it a volume leader, rapidly catching up on its daily average of 34.2 million. Share prices edged up 5.7 percent to $10.52.

Pluristem Therapeutics (Nasdaq: PSTI) shares dumped 24.8 percent to $3.16 Thursday, on volume of 5.5 million shares, dwarfing its daily average of 486,030, on announcing a public offering of common stock, with a goal of raising $50 million.

HLXW gets second wind, ELCR rolls off lot, IHCH not so healthy

Helix Wind Corp. (OTCBB: HLXW) climbed in price 14.3 percent Wednesday afternoon to eight-100ths of a cent. Volume for the stock 249.8 million shares, compared to an all-day average of 39.8 million. The Poway, Calif.-based renewable energy company announced today that it was recently awarded a Notice of Allowance relating to a United States patent application that was filed in 2007, covering segmented, helical rotors used in wind-driven turbines.

Electric Car Company Inc. (OTCBB: ELCR) dealt in 139.6 million shares Wednesday, in contrast with a daily average of 82.8 million. Share prices were flat, though, at one-100th of a cent. ELCR announced this week that it has executed an Exclusive Distributor Agreement to sell the Company’s limousines, custom vehicles, electric conversion vehicles and limo buses in China.

Integrated Healthcare Holdings Inc. (OTCBB: IHCH) sank in price Wednesday 60 percent to two cents. Volume for the stock was 26,000 shares, shy of its average of 39,871 shares. IHCH’s goal is to provide quality healthcare services in a community setting that are responsive to the needs of the communities that it serves.

ICGN up, MU down, XRS schooled

Icagen Inc. (Nasdaq: ICGN) shares jumped 16.8 percent to $3.06 Wednesday, on volume of 1.1 million shares, better than double its daily average. Last week, the company was upgraded MLV Capital from “hold” to “upgrade”.

Micron Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) bought and sold 26.7 million shares, just shy of its daily average of 33.9 million. Share prices inched up 0.4 percent to $10.01, on word of a downgrade from “neutral” to “negative” Tuesday by Avian.

TAL Education Group (NYSE: XRS) shares lost 6.7 percent to $12.17 Wednesday, on volume of 1.0 million shares, more than five times its daily average. The after-school tutoring services company reported a 47.7-percent increase in revenue, to $24.1 million in the quarter, as total student enrollment grew 25 percent .

MSHL marches, CSCO deals, GTIMD down

Marshsall Edwards Inc. (Nasdaq: MSHL) shares spiked 21.8 percent to $2.63, on volume of 114,403 shares, tripling its daily average.

Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) was among the volume leaders Wednesday, trading in 46.2 million shares compared to a daily average of 72.8 million. Share prices shaved off 0.6 percent to $21.41.

Good Times Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: GTIMD) shares jettisoned 34.3 percent to $3.11 Wednesday, on volume of 186,771 shares, compared to a daily average of 5,000. The Colorado-based restaurant chain said December was its fifth consecutive month of same-store sales increases. It said that same-store sales were up 13.4 percent in the just-completed first quarter of fiscal 2011 from a year earlier.

MMTE energetic, CGFIA busy, MCET miserable

Mammoth Energy Group (OTCBB: MMTE) climbed 18.2 percent Wednesday to 13-100ths of a cent. Volume was 120.4 million shares, compared to a daily average of 43.8 million.

Colorado Goldfields Inc. (OTCBB: CGFIA) traded in 138.2 million shares Wednesday, compared to an average of 50.6 million. Prices for the stock tumbled, however, 87.4 percent, to 12-100ths of a cent. CGFIA is a mining exploration stage company engaged in the acquisition and exploration of mineral properties, mainly for gold, silver, zinc, copper and lead.

MultiCell Technologies Inc. (OTCBB: MCET) dumped 25.7 percent Wednesday to 1.04 cents, on volume of 57.2 million shares, or about eight times its usual daily average. MCET has specialized in developing main liver cell immortalization technologies to produce cell-based assay systems for use in drug discovery.
