TRCI soars, GE active, LLEN loses

Technology Research Corp. (Nasdaq: TRCI) saw its shares gallop ahead 29.7 percent in price to $5.06. Volume was 631,246, overwhelmed its full-day volume average of 11, 160. TRCI announced Tuesday it had received an unsolicited indication of interest from Coleman Cable in acquiring it at a price of $5.50 per share in cash.

General Electric (NYSE: GE) traded widely Tuesday, dealing in 39,864,600 shares Thursday, catching up on a full-day average of 56,587,000. Prices for the stock cooled 0.9 percent to $18.65, on word the FCC has greenlighted the bid by cable magnate Comcast to take over NBC Universal.

L & L Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq: LLEN) fell 11.1 percent to $8.35. Volume for the stock was 2,217,606 shares, just better than double its all-day average. LLEN promoted David Lin to acting Chief Financial Officer, effective today. Lin will replace Rosemary Wang who is stepping down due to family reasons, but will remain on as a consultant.

LEE leaps, MRK trades widely, MCZ struggles

Lee Enterprises Inc. (NYSE: LEE) leaped 14.9 percent in price to $3.31. Volume was 808,866, or better than twice its full-day volume average, on reports the company enjoyed 38-percent better ad revenue in its first fiscal quarter.

Merck & Company Inc. (NYSE: MRK) was active Tuesday, dealing in 36,816,766 shares Thursday, better than twice its full-day average. Share prices were off, though, 0.8 percent to $33.95. Merck is teaming up with Ariad Pharmaceuticals on a drug to target cancerous tumors of the soft tissue or bone.

Mad Catz Interactive Inc. (AMEX: MCZ) skidded 16.5 percent to 96 cents, while volume for the stock was 2,819,600 shares, more than four times its all-day average. MCZ designs, manufactures, markets, and distributes accessories for videogame platforms, personal computers (PC), and iPod and other audio devices.

ESLP sunny, FLTT busy, SSLR cloudy

Euro Solar Parks Inc. (OTCBB: ESLP) ascended 208.7 percent in price to 71 cents. Volume for the stock was 26,500 shares, compared to a daily average of 4,977. ESLP develops, builds and operates commercial solar power plants with a focus on the European solar energy market.

Flint Telecom Group Inc. (OTCBB: FLTT) dealt in 65.6 million shares Thursday, compared to a daily average of 26.8 million. Prices for the stock plunged, though, by 18.2 percent to nine-100ths of a cent. FLTT is a fast growing Telecoms Technology Organization with a portfolio of companies that deliver next-generation IP communications and prepaid financial Products and Services.

Sunrise Solar Corp. (OTCBB: SSLR) slid in price 90 percent to one-10th of a cent. Volume for the stock was 21,850 shares, nosing out its daily average to 17,039. SSLR intends to commercialize and distribute cutting edge alternative solar energy technologies and equipment.

THLD breaks down door, INTC active, DRWI scorched

Threshold Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: THLD) shares gained 16.9 percent to $2.01 Thursday. Volume was 606,335, triple its full-day volume average. THLD is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of drugs targeting Tumor Hypoxia, the low oxygen condition found in microenvironments of most solid tumors.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) traded in 47,608,915 shares Thursday, catching up to its daily average of 55,807,500. Prices for the chip maker were off 0.3 percent to $21.24.

DragonWave Inc. (Nasdaq: DRWI) fell 15.4 percent Thursday to $7.33 Volume for the stock was 3,399,796 shares proved nearly seven times its full-day average. Wednesday, the Ottawa-based DRWI announced quarterly figures showing revenue of $27.0 million, compared with $51.6 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2010. Net loss in the third quarter of fiscal year 2011 was $0.05 million, compared to net income of $11.6 million in the prior-year quarter.

BTC soars, MSFT deals, ANTP fazed

Community Bankers Trust Corp. (AMEX: BTC) grew 36.1 percent in price Thursday to $1.47. Volume of 253,884 shares better than tripled its normal volume. Virginia-based BTC the holding company for Essex Bank.

Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) traded in 65,285,889 shares traded, surpassing its daily average of 56,645,700. Prices for the stock gained 2.5 percent to $28.96. Thursday, MSFT unveiled the next generation of the Microsoft Surface experience featuring PixelSense technology.

Phazar Corp. (Nasdaq: ANTP) fell 17 percent in Thursday trading to $4.48. Volume for the stock was 51,639 shares, short of its daily average of 63,499, after announcing it was dropping its True Mesh Network Radio program.
