CWS springs higher, MOT active, KONE sinks

China Wind Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CWS) gained 17.99 percent in price Thursday to $3.41. Volume of 236,605 shares trampled its full-day average of 77,302. CWS is a leading supplier of forged rolled rings and other forged components to the wind power and other industries and industrial equipment primarily to the textile industry in China.

Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT) traded Thursday in 55,247,292 shares, nearly doubling its full-day average. MOT share prices gained 5.19 per cent, to $8.91. Nokia Siemens Networks on Wednesday won approval from the European Union (EU) to buy the U.S. -based Motorola Network Business.

Kingtone Wirelessinfo Solution Holding Ltd (NasdaqCM: KONE) reversed 9.79 percent Thursday to $3.41. Volume of 211,373 shares more than doubled its full day average. KONE is a leading China-based software and solutions developer focused on wirelessly enabling businesses and government agencies.

ALY soars, PFE sells, YOKU skids

Allis-Chalmers Energy Inc. (NYSE: ALY) improved 9.63 percent in price Monday afternoon to $6.26. Volume was 633,498 shares, surmounting the stock’s normal daily average. ALY is a Houston-based multi-faceted oilfield services company

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) was awash in volume Monday afternoon, trading in 26,763,559 shares, pursuing its normal daily average of 43,073,400 shares. Prices for PFE were up 1.38 percent to $17.25. PFE announced Sunday that Prevenar 13* (Pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine [13-valent, adsorbed]) was introduced into the first childhood immunization program for pneumococcal disease in the developing world under the auspices of the Advance Market Commitment when Nicaragua launched its program.

Youku.com (NYSE: YOKU) tumbled 10.88 percent to $33.42 on Monday. Volume was 5,522,513 shares, compared to its full-day average of 12,219,400. YOKU is a leading Chinese Internet television company.

ZQK is quick, MGM calls on markers, BITA gets bitten

Quicksilver, Inc. (NYSE: ZQK) propspered 20.52 percent Thursday afternoon to $5.58. Volume was 7,145,473 shares dwarfed its daily average of 1,018,300.

MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) traded in 44,877,735 shares Thursday, pulling ahead of its daily average of 34,610,000. Share prices were down 1.74 percent at $13.54, amid a move to get Nevada Senator Harry Reid on board with a bill to back Internet gambling. MGM is the dominant casino operator in Las Vegas.

Bitauto Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: BITA) took a hit in price 11.85 percent Thursday to $8.85, on volume of 473,339 shares, just better than half its normal full-day average. BITA made its debut last month, and is a leading provider of Internet content and marketing services for China’s fast-growing automotive industry.

YOKU moves skyward, INTC busy, GRB skids

YOUKU.COM (NYSE: YOKU) grew 27.72 percent in price Thursday afternoon to $42.71. Volume of 14,547,545 shares is catching up on its daily average of 16.94 million. The Chinese Internet television company celebrated its IPO Wednesday.

Intel Corporation (NasdaqGS: INTC) traded in 44,197,894 shares, to make it among the volume leaders early Thursday afternoon, catching up on its daily average of 60,330,900. Share prices were flat at $21.82.

Gerber Scientific Inc. (NYSE: GRB) fell in price 21.29 percent Thursday to $6.69, on volume of 63,726 shares, slightly more than its normal full-day average. The Connecticut-based Gerber reported revenue increased 9.0% to $129.3 million from $118.7 million. Gross profit was $38.6 million or 29.9% of sales versus $35.2 million or 29.7% of sales.

The El Paso-based personal care company announced today it has entered into a definitive merger agreement to acquire the business of Kaz, Inc., for $260 million.

Cisco System Inc. (NasdaqGS: CSCO) traded in 59,059,916 shares, to make it among the volume leaders early Thursday afternoon. Share prices improved 2.12 percent to $19.76

Bona Film Group Ltd. (NasdaqGM: BONA) skidded in price 21.29 percent Thursday to $6.69, on volume of 7,715,365 shares on the day of its IPO. The largest privately owned film distributor in China, today announced that its initial public offering of 11,740,000 American depositary shares, each two ADSs representing one ordinary share of the Company, was priced at $8.50 per ADS.
