AMRN flies on positive tests, C sells widely, CEU staggers

Amarin Corp. PLC (NasdaqCM: AMRN) enjoyed a gain of gained 58.03 percent in price early Monday to $5.61. Volume in the first hour was a staggering 17,200,902 shares, trampling its three-month average share volume of 767,131. The Connecticut and Ireland-based pharmaceutical company today reported positive, statistically significant top-line results from the MARINE study, its first Phase 3 clinical trial of lead drug candidate AMR101.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) was among Monday morning’s volume leaders, trading in 104,926,884 shares, nearly a quarter of its normal daily volume of 117,592,265 shares, with its three-month average share volume pegged at 464,971,000. The banking behemoth upped its price by 0.97 percent to $4.15. C today announced that it has won a mandate to provide third-party securities lending services for Global X Funds’ family of exchange traded funds.

China Education Alliance Inc. (NYSE: CEU) fell in price early Tuesday by 12.7 percent to $3.85. Volume was 165,878 shares, its three-month average share volume not available at press time. CEU is a leading China-based company experiencing fast-growing, offering high-quality education resources and services to students ages 6 to 18 and adults (university students and professionals) ages 18 and over.

ASTC in orbit, C sells widely, IRE gloomy

Astrotech Corp. (Nasdaq: ASTC) sprinted out to a gain of gained 68.32 percent in price in Tuesday morning trade to $1.70  Volume in the first hour was a staggering 1,683,045 shares, overwhelming its usual full-day share volume of 67.095. The Austin-based provider of commercial aerospace services, today announced that its Astrotech Space Operations subsidiary has won a fully-funded task order under the $35-million Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for NASA.

Citigroup (NYSE: C) was among Tuesday morning’s volume leaders, trading in 104,926,884 shares, nearly a quarter of its mormal daily volume of 474,398,000 shares. The banking behemoth slipped in price, though, by 1.56 percent to $4.12.

Bank of Ireland (NYSE: IRE) fell in price early Tuesday by 23.42 percent to $1.70. Volume of 21,334,242 shares was nearly seven times the bank’s three-month daily average for volume.On Sunday, Ireland became the second euro zone country to ask for aid and will officially begin talks with the European Union regarding a bailout that could reach $110 billion.

IRE surges, C widely traded, IIIIU trends downward

Bank of Ireland (NYSE: IRE) gained 10.65 percent in price in early trading Thursday to $2.39. Volume of 3,417,273 shares topped its three-month daily average of 3,095,990. The Irish central bank has provided nearly 35 billion euros in exceptional liquidity assistance to its banks as of the end of October, data from the monetary authority showed on Thursday.

Citigroup (NYSE:C) was the volume leader in early Thursday trading, with 62,394,962 shares changing hands, 3-month average daily volume comes in at 476,264,000. Shares gained 1.67 percent Thursday to $4.26.

Information Services Group Inc. (Nasdaq: IIIIU) fell in price early Thursday by 17.4 percent to $3.18. Volume of 82,132 shares.

HYC hyper over deal, C goes lending, IIIIU sinks

Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) increased 14.85 percent in price soon after the opening at $7.04. Volume was a whopping 10,009,714 shares, compared to a daily average of 753,455. VeriFone Systems Inc. said Wednesday that it has agreed to buy Hypercom Corp. in an all-stock deal valued at about $485 million.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) traded widely Wednesday, dealing in 139,571,329 shares, compared to its three-month daily average of 473,962,000. The stock’s price slipped 0.95 percent to $4.18. The banking giant said Wednesday it has raised a $600-million collateralized loan obligation for Guggenheim Investment Management LLC, according to people familiar with the deal.

Information Services Group Inc. (NasdaqGM: IIIIU) fell in price in early trading Wednesday by 20.04 percent to $4.15. Volume was 72,715 shares, its three-month daily average not available at press time.

Gray Television Inc, (NYSE: GTN.A) jumped 9.68 percent in price Monday morning to $1.70. Volume was 370 shares, compared to a three-month daily average of 1,458. The Atlanta-based Gray is a television broadcast company, currently operating 36 television stations serving 30 markets.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) proved the early volume leader in Monday trading, exchanging 103,146,803 shares, compared to its daily average of 470,269,000. C shares gained 1.17 percent to $4.34 in the first 90 minutes of trading. Bank stocks in general were busy Monday, amid increased speculation Ireland will get some sort of bailout from the European Union.

Gramercy Capital Corp. (NYSE: GKK) tumbled 11.17 percent in price to $15.50. Volume was 5,730 shares; three-month averages were not available at press time.
