BSET comfortable, INTC trades, ICGN slumps

Bassett Furniture Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: BSET) climbed 28.6 percent to $5.85. Volume was 151,374 or seven times its normal daily volume, on quarterly sales of $66.0 million as compared to $59.5 million the year before, an increase of 10.9%. The Company reported net income of $1.9 million, or $0.17 per share, as compared to net income of $2.6 million, or $0.22 per share in the prior-year quarter.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) traded in 28.1 million shares Thursday, building toward a daily average of 55.1 million. Share prices eked up 0.4 percent to $21.83.

Icagen Inc. (Nasdaq: ICGN) shares chucked 8 percent to $2.89 Thursday, on volume of 315,271 shares, trailing its daily average of 489,397.

NFLX stars, QCOM a draw, HWKN loses feathers

Netflix Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) shares surged 13.6 percent to $208.00. Volume for the stock was 11.3 million shares – better than twice its daily average,  after the online DVD and streaming rental provider posted strong fourth-quarter results and gave a better-than-expected first-quarter forecast.

Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM) traded in 24.8 million shares Thursday, doubling a typical full-day average of 12 million. Share prices strutted 5.8 percent to $54.84, after QCOM forecast revenue that topped estimates.

Hawkins Inc. (Nasdaq: HWKN) shares let go of  17.1 percent to $38.24 Thursday, on volume of 222,880 shares, easily beating its daily average of 41,869. Quarterly sales of HWKN $70.6 million represented an increase of 16.5% from $60.6 million in sales for the same period in the prior fiscal year.

ACAT prowls, MSFT big trader, MRNA sinks

Arctic Cat Inc. (Nasdaq: ACAT) shares improved 15.3 percent Thursday to $15.82. Volume was 224,068 shares, better than double its daily average, on quarterly revenues of $152 million, beating estimates of $136.8 million.

Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT) traded in 22.7 million shares Thursday, building toward a daily average of 58.3 million. Share prices stepped down 0.6 percent to $28.61

Marina Biotech Inc. (Nasdaq: MRNA) shares let go of 9.1 percent to $1.09 Thursday, on volume of 580,004 shares, beating its daily average of 234,217, on Japanese patent news concerning one of its nucleic acid products.

CRUS clicks along, C active, QTM falters

Cirrus Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS) shares ran up 10.5 percent Thursday to $19.80. Volume was 2.5 million shares, compared with daily averages around 3.4 million, on quarterly revenues of $95.6 million, up 47% on the same quarter a year ago.

Quantum Corporation (Nasdaq: QTM) shares fell 19.4 percent to $2.90 Thursday, on volume of 14.3 million shares, squashing its daily average of 4.3 million, after the company reported fiscal Q3 revenue and EPS below estimates and a sharply underwhelming forecast as well.

ROK rocks on, F deals, QTM queasy

Rockwell Automation Inc. (NYSE: ROK) shares rose 8.9 percent to $81.31 Wednesday. Share volume was 5.7 million, more than five times its daily average, after the maker of factory equipment hiked its forecast for the remainder of the year.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) traded in 61.5 million shares Wednesday, making it a volume leader, though well below its daily average of 83.9 million. Share prices crept up 2.6 percent to $18.36, after revealing its F-150 “Hero” engine at the North American International Auto Show.

Quantum Corporation (NYSE: QTM) shares took off 6.7 percent to $3.53 Wednesday, on volume of 6.9 million shares, more than 50 percent more than its daily average. After the bell, QTM reported quarterly revenues of $176 million — up $9 million from prior quarter, and net income of $6 million, or three cents per share, compared to $5 million, or two cents per share.
