LPTH runs toward light, SIRI has stronger signal, SBAY sub-par

LightPath Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: LPTH) soared an incredible 89.8% in early afternoon trade Thursday, to $2.60. Volume for this stock was 1.8 million shares, trampling its usual volume of less than 26,000, after announcing new direct-to-China sales channels.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) was a volume leader Thursday, dealing in 35.6 million shares, making headway on an all-day volume of 55.1 million. Share prices were up as well, by 1.6% to $1.70.

Subaye Inc. (Nasdaq: SBAY) listed lower Thursday afternoon by 15.5% to $3.16. Volume of 102, 964 trailed its daily average of 145,298.

MU major, NVDA cruising, SCHL flunks

Micron Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) shares gained 8% to $11.07, on 60.7 million shares, surpassing a daily average of 41.3 million, after the maker of computer memory chips reported better-than-expected second-quarter results late Wednesday.

NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) saw 25.1 million shares come and go Thursday by noon ET, compared to an all-day volume of 32.3 million. NVDA shares went for $19.26 a pop, or 8.1% better than Wednesday’s close.

Scholastic Corporation (Nasdaq: SCHL) tripped 11.8% in early afternoon trading Thursday to $27.54. Volume was 627, 831 shares, or better than quadruple its daily average, after posting a Q3 net loss.

WOLF howls, DSCM being bought, MNOV slumps

Great Wolf Resorts, Inc.(NASDAQ: WOLF) shares jumped 7.2% to $2.23, after it announced that it has completed the sale of its Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Claremont New Frontier Resort LLC for $4.2 million.

drugstore.com, inc. (Nasdaq: DSCM) did incredible business Thursday, trading in 53.7 million shares, dwarfing its daily average of 849,685. Share prices for DSCM skyrocketed 111.2% to $3.78, on news Walgreen (NYSE: WAG) was buying the chain for $429 million in cash.

MediciNova Inc. (Nasdaq: MNOV) plummeted in price by 23.3% to $2.73 Thursday. Volume for the stock 850,000 shares, leaving its average of 13,364 in the dust, a day after MNOV priced a firm-commitment underwritten public offering of 2,750,000 units at a price to the public of $3.00 per unit for gross proceeds of $8.25 million.

Hats off to RHT, C busy, FUL empty

Red Hat Inc. (NYSE: RHT) shares rose 16.6% to $46.59 Thursday. Share volume was six million in the first trading hour, or triple its daily average, a day after the software company reported fourth-quarter revenue that beat forecasts.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) shares were selling to the tune of 83.6 million Thursday, catching up on a full-day average of 486.9 million. Share prices for C dipped 0.3% to $4.39, after announcing it might invest up to $4 billion in consumer businesses next year.

H.B. Fuller Co. (NYSE: FUL) shares fell 3.4% to $20.31, on volume of 251,759 (compared to a full-day average of 337, 240), a day after the manufacturer of adhesives and paints reported a first-quarter profit that missed expectations.

PFSW soars, MU far from mute, MSHL moody

PFSWEb Inc. (Nasdaq: PFSW) stepped on the accelerator Wednesday, gaining 25.4% in price to $4.15. Volume for the stock was nearly 630,000 shares, trouncing its daily average of 86,789, on better-than-expected Q4 earnings.

Micron Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) proved among the busiest stocks on Wall St. Wednesday, trading in 39.5 million shares, just shy of its daily average around 41 million. Share prices budged 2.7% higher to $10.62, as investors awaited the release of MU’s Q2 financials results.

Marshall Edwards Inc. (Nasdaq: MSHL) slumped 15.7% Wednesday to register at $1.56 near the close. Volume for the stock was 143,091, or nearly double its usual volume.
