LZR merges, MSFT moving, CRME skips a beat

Emergent Group Inc. (AMEX: LZR) shares sprang up 38.8 per cent to $8.41, on volume of 284,325 or more than 11 times its daily average. Monday, it was announced that LZR was to be acquired by Universal Hospital Services for $8.46 a share.

Microsoft Inc. (Nasdaq: MSFT) traded in 25.3 million shares, pursuing a daily average of 58.4 million. Share prices added 1.6 percent to $28.22, amid general momentum in the tech world.

Cardiome Pharma Corporation (Nasdaq: CRME) lost 11.4 percent Monday to $6.06. Volume was 561,971 shares, nearly twice its normal daily average. Vancouver-based CRME is a product-focused drug development company dedicated to the advancement and commercialization of novel treatments for disorders of the heart and circulatory system.

FRG shines, CSCO busy, CCME staggers

Fronteer Gold Inc. (AMEX: FRG) shares traveled 38.6 percent to $14.46 Thursday, on volumes of 14.9 million, dwarfing its full-day average of 1.4 million, after announcing that Newmont Mining would acquire FRG.

Cisco Systems Inc, (Nasdaq: CSCO) traded in 35.7 million Thursday, catching an all-day average of 73.3 million. Share prices gained one percent to $21.83, after Oppenheimer pegged CSCO as a potential $25 stock.

China MediaExpress Inc. (Nasdaq: CCME) took a price header Thursday, sliding 22.6 percent to $12.86. Volume was 10.5 million or six times its daily average.

SSN mighty, GE active, CHKE cutting

Samson Oil & Gas Inc. (AMEX: SSN) shares soared 22 percent to $2.66, on volume of five million shares, better than four times its daily average, after filing its quarterly report.

General Electric (NYSE: GE) was busy Monday, dealing in 30 million shares, or about half its daily volume. Prices were fairly flat at $20.17, on news that the company, which agreed to $4.3 billion in energy acquisitions over the past four months, plans to boost results at the oil and gas unit by investing in research and plants.

Cherokee Inc. (Nasdaq: CHKE) shares demurred 11.5 percent to $16.06 on volume of 282,476 shares, five times its daily average, after slashing its quarterly dividend in order to invest more resources in its various brands of clothing, footwear, fashion accessories and home furnishings.

GXDX runs up, GE bright, APP threadbare

Genoptix Inc. (Nasdaq: GXDX) shares rose 25.8% to $24.85 after Swiss drug maker Novartis AG (NYSE: NVS) said it would buy the cancer-diagnostic specialist for $470 million. Volume for the stock was 18.75 million shares, compared to a daily average of 461,835.

General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) dealt in 58.5 million shares Monday, surpassing its full-day average of 57 million. Share prices moved higher 1.4 percent to $20.02.

American Apparel Inc. (AMEX: APP) dropped 13.2 percent to $1.12 Monday. Volume for the stock was 794,910 shares, beating out its daily average of 578,569. The apparel maker is in talks to bring in an external restructuring adviser to try to revive growth and appease creditors.

HMG hums, MSFT strong as usual, VOL loses some voltage

HMG/Courtland Properties Inc. (AMEX: HMG) gained 17.3 percent Thursday to $6.04, on volume of 121,152 shares, more than 24 times its full-day average.

Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT) dealt in 57,505,354 shares, to within a few aces of its full-day average of 57,739,400. Share prices were flat at $28.35.

Volt Information Services Inc. (NYSE: VOL) dipped 17.1 percent to $6.36 Thursday. Volume was 988,964 shares, better than 12 times its daily average. VOL is a leading provider of global infrastructure solutions in technology, information services and staffing acquisition for its FORTUNE 100 customer base.
