GTXI gallops, CSCO clicks, NEP slips

GTX Inc. (Nasdaq: GTXI) shares advanced 41.8% to $3.90, on volume of 2.9 million, dwarfing an average of only 85,000, after Citigroup Inc. upgraded the drug company to buy from hold.

Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) traded in 49.2 million shares, making it a volume leader Wednesday, but still falling below its average of 77.5 million. Share prices were down 1.2% to $17.24.

China North East Petroleum (AMEX: NEP) plummeted 15.9% to $3.22, on volume of 2.5 million, towering over a daily average around 440,000.

CAK soars, LVLT basks, YUII ails

CAMAC Energy Inc. (AMEX: CAK) was a surprise victor among market movers Wednesday, gaining 51.8% in price to $2.08. Volume was 6.1 million shares, or 12 times its normal full-day average.

Level 3 Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: LVLT) proved one of the most popular movers on Wall Street Wednesday, trading in 39.4 million shares, or twice its full-day average. Prices for the stock inched ahead 0.6% to $1.68, a day after announcing it was buying Global Crossing for $3 billion.

Yuhi International Inc. (Nasdaq: YUII) took a slip Wednesday, docking its price by 18.6% to $5.42, on 447,000 shares, compared to normal volume around 92,600.

LB living large, SIRI masterful, GD groggy

LaBarge Inc. (AMEX: LB) shares rose 9.1% to $19.02 a piece, on volume of 1.9 million shares, dwarfing a daily average of less than 35,000. This, after Ducommun Inc. (NYSE: DCO) said it would buy the electronic manufacturing-services company for $19.25 a share. Ducommun shares improved 3.9% to $25.00.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) saw 25.9 million of its shares change hands, trailing its daily average of 54 million. Prices inched up 2.7% to $1.70, after announcing today it would provide live radio coverage of this week’s Masters Golf Tournament from Augusta, Ga.

General Dynamics Corp. (NYSE: GD) shares fell 5.7% to $73.00, on volume of 9.7 million shares, far surpassing its daily average of 1.9 million. This, after a unit of the defense contractor said four employees died Saturday when an aircraft crashed during a test flight.

CMT balloons, INTC in disarray, CCI falls off throne

Core Molding Technologies Inc. (AMEX: CMT) shares gained 19.7% to $7.30, on 96,756 shares, dwarfing its all-day average of 7,634 after the maker of truck accessories reported higher sales in its fourth quarter.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) traded in 36.6 million shares, making headway against an all-day average of 57.3 million shares, after the resignation of its senior vice president Anand Chandrasekher

Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE: CCI) shares shed 4.7% to $37.32, on volume of 12.2 million shares, or six times its daily average, after Raymond James & Associates downgraded the operator of wireless infrastructure to outperform from strong buy.

GTLS tops chart, SIRI volume star, GSS loses shine

Chart Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: GTLS) shares rose 12.7% to $42.74, on share volume of just over one million, triple its average, after the engineered-equipment maker forecast 2011 results higher than analyst predictions.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) bought and sold 33.2 million shares Thursday, making it a volume leader, but shy of its daily average of 52.1 million. Prices jumped 1.5% to $1.71.

Golden Star Resources Inc. (AMEX: GSS) prices capitulated 14.8% to $3.34 Thursday, on share volume of 10.7 million or three times its normal average, after announcing Wednesday full-year gold revenues of $432.7 million, up 8% over 2009, and a net loss of $8.3 million or $0.032 per share.
