Hats off to RHT, C busy, FUL empty

Red Hat Inc. (NYSE: RHT) shares rose 16.6% to $46.59 Thursday. Share volume was six million in the first trading hour, or triple its daily average, a day after the software company reported fourth-quarter revenue that beat forecasts.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) shares were selling to the tune of 83.6 million Thursday, catching up on a full-day average of 486.9 million. Share prices for C dipped 0.3% to $4.39, after announcing it might invest up to $4 billion in consumer businesses next year.

H.B. Fuller Co. (NYSE: FUL) shares fell 3.4% to $20.31, on volume of 251,759 (compared to a full-day average of 337, 240), a day after the manufacturer of adhesives and paints reported a first-quarter profit that missed expectations.

PFSW soars, MU far from mute, MSHL moody

PFSWEb Inc. (Nasdaq: PFSW) stepped on the accelerator Wednesday, gaining 25.4% in price to $4.15. Volume for the stock was nearly 630,000 shares, trouncing its daily average of 86,789, on better-than-expected Q4 earnings.

Micron Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) proved among the busiest stocks on Wall St. Wednesday, trading in 39.5 million shares, just shy of its daily average around 41 million. Share prices budged 2.7% higher to $10.62, as investors awaited the release of MU’s Q2 financials results.

Marshall Edwards Inc. (Nasdaq: MSHL) slumped 15.7% Wednesday to register at $1.56 near the close. Volume for the stock was 143,091, or nearly double its usual volume.

AUMN awesome, F rolls along, NCT sheds

Golden Minerals Company (AMEX: AUMN) zoomed ahead 24.9% Wednesday to $22.98. Volume for the stock was 206,435 shares, or two-and-a-half times its normal daily volume, amid general buying of gold shares.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) traded in 52.6 million shares, compared with a daily average of 86.6 million. Share prices were up 0.2% late in the session to $14.37.

Newcastle Investment Corp. (NYSE: NCT) shares shed 9.3% to $6.05 after the real-estate investment trust said it would sell 15 million shares. Volume was two million shares, compared to a daily average of 815,000.


CTAS pops, CSCO busy, ADBE ails

Cintas Corp.(Nasdaq: CTAS) shares rose 5.3% to $29.63 Wednesday, on volume of 2.2 million shares, better than double its daily average, after the uniform supplier projected earnings above Wall Street’s expectations.

Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) did fair business Wednesday, trading in 29.6 million shares, compared to an average of 71.4 million shares. Share prices inched up 0.5% to $17.55

Adobe Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: ADBE) shares fell 5% to $31.25, on volume of 11.3 million shares, more than twice its daily average, after the graphic-design software company projected second-quarter results below Wall Street estimates.

OMER gets traction, SIRI gets sued, CREE gets dumped

Omeros Corp. (Nasdaq: OMER) shares gained 10.6% to $6.69. Volume was 154,491 shares, or 2 and a half times the norm, after the biotechnology company said its potential eye-surgery treatment met key goals in a mid-stage study.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) traded in 44.7 million shares by noon ET Wednesday, in contrast to a daily average of 55.9 million. Share prices dipped a bit, though, by 2.4% to $1.67, after Howard Stern sued the satellite radio provider and at least one analyst cut his rating on the stock.

Cree Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) shares fell 11.7% to $43.29, on volume of 14.2 million, towering over its average of 3.3 million, after the LED manufacturer trimmed its third-quarter revenue forecast.
