SAR leaps, GE steady, SSE fades

Saratoga Investment Corp. (NYSE: SAR) jumped in price 8.63 percent to $22.66. Volume in SAR was 48,333 shares, or more than 10 times its usual daily volume. The New York-based business development company today announced that its Board of Directors has declared a dividend of $4.40 per share payable on December 23, 2010 to common shareholders of record on November 19, 2010.

General Electric Corporation (NYSE: GE) was one of the main volume leaders Monday, trading in 39,121,632 shares, still well below its daily average of 59,528,300.  Even so, the giant trailed Friday’s close in price by 0.31 percent to $16.20.  GE Marine, a unit of GE Transportation, and the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) announced today the start of the commissioning of 13 tugboats for use in the Panama Canal. The 26-engine order represents the largest in the history of GE Marine.

Southern Connecticut Bancorp (AMEX: SSE) fell in price Monday, 34.52 percent to $4.06. Volume in SSE was 57,132, or about eight to nine times its average daily volume. The holding bank announced Friday it had entered into a Mutual Termination Agreement, related to the previously announced Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated as of February 22, 2010, as amended on September 17, 2010.

UTA takes flight, INTC has chipper volume, CTIB falters

Universal Travel Group (NYSE: UTA) took off in Monday trading, gaining 9.59 percent in price to close at $5.94. Volume in UTA was 1,008,419, easily better than its three-month daily share average of 706,830. The Chinese-based company announced Monday that it will hold a conference call Tuesday to discuss its third-quarter financial results.

Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) was among the volume leaders Monday, trading in 42,935,569 shares, still below its three-month daily average of 68,486,200. The company stumbled a bit on the price scale, though, losing 1.02 percent to $21.31. INTC said Friday its board approved a 15-percent increase in quarterly cash dividends.

CTI Industries Corp. (NasdaqCM: CTIB) slumped 17.31 percent in price Monday to close at $ 5.35. Volume was 283,292 shares, or about nine times its average. The Lake Barrington, Ill-based company said last Tuesday its net income rose 19 percent in the third quarter as revenue edged up.

IIIIU flies, SIRI flies off shelves, ONP takes bruising

Information Services Group Inc. (NasdaqGM: IIIIU) ballooned in price Monday by 66 percent to $4.27. Volume in IIIIU shares was 188,589, its three-month daily average not available at press time. The industry-leading, information-based services company is based out of Stamford, Ct.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (NasdaqGM: SIRI) traded in 72,707,864 shares Monday, just short of its daily average of 74,926,100. SIRI shares skidded 2.46 percent, though, to $1.38. General Electric purchased two million shares of Sirius XM common stock last quarter.

Orient Paper Inc. (AMEX: ONP) took a pasting in late trading Monday, dropping 25.67 percent in price to $4.75. Volume was 2,063,827 shares, more than six times its normal daily average. ONP filed its quarterly report Monday.

DYP surges, LVLT busy in trading, TRIT drops

Duoyuan Printing Company (NYSE: DYP) picked up 8.15 percent in price late Monday to $2.92. Volume was 1,000,507 shares, trumping its usual volume around 700,000.

Level 3 Communications Inc. (NasdaqGS: LVLT) traded in 43,562,750 shares Monday, compared to its usual trading volume of 30,782,200. LVLT stock gained 2.19 percent to $1.165. LVLT today announced that it has signed an agreement with the National Museum of American Jewish History, a Philadelphia-based museum dedicated to chronicling the American Jewish experience, to provide the museum with dedicated Internet access (DIA) service in support of the museum’s new interactive digital exhibits and online content.

Tri-Tech Holding. Inc. (NasdaqGS: TRIT) took a tumble of 23.19 percent in price late Monday to $9.77. Volume in TRIT was 568,717 shares, or about seven times its normal daily average. The Chinese company that provides leading turn-key solutions for water resources, water and wastewater treatment, industrial safety and the pollution control markets, announced today that revenue for the third fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2010increased 244% to $16.9 million from $4.9 million in Q3 2009. Net income for the quarter was $2.2 million, or a 109% improvement over net income of $1.1 million in Q3 2009.

TTGL has banner day, SMKY smokin’, ECCE has wings clipped

Titan Global Holdings, Inc. (Pink Sheets: TTGL) screamed higher in late afternoon trading Monday, gaining 5,900 percent in price to six-10ths of a cent. Volume so far Monday is 32,738 shares.

Smoky Market Foods, Inc. (OTCBB: SMKY) rocketed in price 500 percent Monday to six-10ths of a cent. Volume in the stock was 995,000 shares.

Eagle Ford Oil & Gas, Corp. (OTCBB: ECCE) faded in price 87.18 percent to 10 cents Monday afternoon. Volume was 4,534 shares. Houston-based ECCE announced last week a drilling update for the two wells in the Eagle Ford Shale formation located in Live Oak County in South Texas. The Kellam#2H has been successfully completed and is currently producing.
