SFSF succeeds, F rolls off lot, ATVI snowed under

Success Factors Inc. (Nasdaq: SFSF) proved as good as its name Thursday, which shares powering ahead 15.6% to $34.78 Thursday, on volumes of 3.8 million shares, nearly four times its daily average, after the business software maker announced results showing Q4 revenue and 2011 guidance well above consensus.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) traded in 43.7 million shares Thursday, well below its daily average of 91.6 million. Prices dipped 0.7% , however, to $15.98. F Thursday announced it was showcasing ads for the new Explorer pickup during this month’s Grammy Awards telecast.

Activision Blizzard Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) shares were down 8.2% to $10.74, with volume of 40.2 million shares, compared to a daily average of 9.4 million, after the video-game publisher late Wednesday projected first-quarter earnings that missed Wall Street estimates and said it would shutter the unit that makes “Guitar Hero” games.

SCI gallops, CIM sings, AKAM trails

Service Corporation International (NYSE: SCI) shares garnered 16.2% to $10.56 Thursday, on volumes of 3.4 million shares, nearly four times its daily average, after the company reported revenue of $571.3 million and adjusted earnings per share of $0.18, easily topping estimates of $0.13.

Chimera Investment Corporation (NYSE: CIM) traded in 43 million shares Thursday, nearly triple its daily average of 14.8 million. Prices faded 1.7% , however, to $4.18, after reporting EPS for the year of 66 cents.

Akamai Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM) shares dove 13.9% to $41.32. Volumes of 32.2 million shares proved eight times its daily average, after a disappointing Q1 guidance.

SCON soars, BAC busy, TKLC tumbles

Superconductor Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: SCON) shares raced ahead 11.7% to $2.95 Thursday, on volumes of 1.6 million shares, already four times its daily average.

Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC) traded in 80.3 million shares Thursday, its daily average a hefty 190.9 million. Prices faded 0.9% to $14.52, after setting prices on mortgage bonds.

Tekelec Inc. (Nasdaq: TKLC) shares took a spill of 16.3% to $9.85. Volumes of 2.3 million shares better than tripled its daily average, after reporting Q4 loss of $8 million, or 12 cents per share, as revenue fell 27%, to $90.2 million.

HGR sprints, S hangs in there, PACR falls off pace

Hanger Orthopedic Group (NYSE: HGR) shares rocketed 20.5% to $27.43 Thursday, on volume of just more than a million shares, already five times its daily average, after announcing a 10% surge in sales, though profits were down.

Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE: S) traded in 100.5 million shares Thursday, more than twice its daily average. Prices sprang up 3.9% to $4.52, amid higher subscription rates.

Pacer International Inc. (Nasdaq: PACR) shares plummeted 20.8% to $5.46. Volumes of two million shares quadrupled its daily average, after reporting Wednesday a surprise quarterly loss of $1.1 million, compared to a $9.3-million gain in the prior-year quarter.

LMLP gets paid, MSFT busy, IDIX sick

LML Payment Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: LMLP) shares gained 14.1% to $4.48 Thursday, on volumes of 975,224 shares, already nine times its daily average, after announcing higher revenues and profits, both quarterly and nine-month.

Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT) traded in 33 million shares Thursday, pursuing its daily average of 56.5 million. Prices faded 1.7% to $27.50.

Idenix Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: IDIX) shares plummeted 24.9% to $3.01. Volumes of 880,000 shares proved five times its daily average, after packing in the development of its Hepatitis C drug on toxicity concerns.
