PCLN beams up, CSCO deals, SLXP sliced and diced

Priceline.com Inc. (Nasdaq: PCLN) shares were up 7.1% to $456.11, on share volume of 2.9 million shares, or three times its average, a day after the online travel-booking service said its fourth-quarter net income rose 73%.

Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) was among volume leaders Thursday, particularly among tech stocks, by trading in 30.6 million shares, nearly half its all-day average of 71.9 million. Prices for CSCO were flat at $18.39

Salix Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: SLXP) stumbled in price to 22.8% to $32.01 Thursday, on share volume of 8.9 million, more than 10 times its daily average, after the Raleigh company said that the FDA wasn’t ready to approve one of its drug candidates without more information.

TVER a terror, CBIS deals, FSWA drops

Terrace Ventures Inc. (OTCBB: TVER) saw its share prices zoom 809.1% to 13 cents. Share volume was 36,440, compared with a typical daily average of 7,277.

Cannabis Science Inc. (OTCBB: CBIS) traded in 57.9 million shares Wednesday, compared to its normal share average of less than one million. Prices for CBIS climbed 76.5% to 12 cents, after announcing encouraging tests on cancer patients being treated by one of its distributors.

First Sound Bank (OTCBB: FSWA) saw its shares drop in price 70.4% to eight cents, on share volume of 45,510, compared to a daily average of just over 10,000. The Seattle-based FSWA is a locally-owned commercial bank offering a full range of financial services.

SYNO ticks upward, NVDA flies off shelves, BWEN windblown

Synovis Life Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNO) shares were up 10.5% to $18.38, on share volume of more than 154,000 shares, or better than five times its average, after the medical-equipment maker on Wednesday reported first-quarter profit that topped estimates.

Nvidia Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) traded Wednesday in 37.2 million shares, besting a daily average of 26.5 million. Prices for NVDA eased 4.7% to $22.11

Broadwind Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: BWEN) subtracted 12.4% to $1.55 Wednesday, on share volume of nearly 1.6 million, beating its daily average of about 893,000.

ROYL a king, HPQ busy, TSON takes beating

Royale Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: ROYL) increased its share price 46.7% to $3.08, on share volume of 2.4 million, leaving in the dust its daily average of 48,357.

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ) traded Wednesday in 72.4 million shares, squashing a daily average of 17.3 million. Prices for HPQ skidded 10.5% to $43.17, after the computer company issued a disappointing outlook and quarterly sales figures.

TranS1 Corp. (Nasdaq: TSON) dipped 11.9% to $3.12, on share volume of 202,000, surpassing a daily average around the 158,000 mark, after reporting fourth-quarter revenues at $5.9 million, while net loss per share was around $5.7 million or $0.27 per share.

ELGX excels, INTC moving, IDSA idles

Endologix Inc. (Nasdaq: ELGX) shares rose 13.6% to $6.25, on share volume topping two million, more six times its average, after the maker of medical devices reported fourth-quarter income that beat Wall Street’s expectations.

Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) traded Wednesday in 72.2 million shares, surpassing a daily average of 53.3 million. Prices for the chip-maker skidded 2.7% to $21.22.

Industrial Services of America (Nasdaq: IDSA) faded 16.4% to $10.75 Wednesday, on share volume of more than 301,000, quintuple its daily average, after issuing guidance for last year’s fourth quarter, during which revenue is expected to be between $96 and $101 million compared with $37.7 million for the fourth quarter of 2009.
