OXM soars, INTC does business, UTA sinks

Oxford Industries Inc. (NYSE: OXM) shares climbed 28.8% to $32.21. Volume for the clothing brand manager topped 981,000, towering over an average of 121,151, after it reported late Tuesday fourth-quarter earnings that beat consensus estimates.

Intel Inc. (Nasdaq: INTC) traded in 22.9 million shares Wednesday, compared to a daily average of 58.7 million. Shares listed lower 0.2% to $20.24.

Universal Travel Group (NYSE: UTA) U.S.-listed shares fell 20% to $4.31, on volume of more than a million shares, compared to an average of 339,000. This, after the Chinese travel-services provider delayed its fiscal 2010 conference call and the release of its financial statements from Wednesday to an unspecified date.

OXM celebrates, CSCO busy, BIOF backslides

Oxford Industries, Inc. (NYSE: OXM) galloped ahead 23.91 percent in price Wednesday to $27.47. Volume of 799,682 shares swamped its daily average of 143,603. OXM is an international apparel design, sourcing and marketing company.

Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) traded in 30,591,580 shares Wednesday, less than half, however, of its daily average of 71,916,500. Share prices for CSCO were flat at $19.53.

BioFuel Energy Corp. (Nasdaq: BIOF) fell 16.08 percent in price Wednesday to $1.67, on volume of 738,567 shares, compared to a full-day average of 491,308. The Denver-based BIOF currently has two 115 million gallons per year ethanol plants in the Midwestern corn belt.

LEDS enjoys hearty IPO, BAC sells widely, OXM slides

SemiLEDS Corp. (NasdaqGS: LEDS) climbed 47.88 percent in price Thursday to $25.14. Volume was 3,659,012 shares, upon its IPO Thursday. The Hawaii-based developer and manufacturer of LED chips and LED components, announced today the pricing of its initial public offering of 5,250,000 shares of its common stock, at $17.00 per share.

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) traded in 126,328,133 shares, making it a leader in volume, against its full-day average of 204,999,000. Shares progressed 2.58 percent to $12.31. Financial executives at U.S. companies expressed more optimism that their businesses will hire employees and see revenue growth in 2011, according to a recent Bank of America Merrill Lynch survey. Of the 801 executives surveyed in the bank’s annual CFO Outlook, 47 percent said they expect their companies to hire additional employees next year, up from 28 percent who forecast hiring last year.

Oxford Industries Inc. (NYSE: OXM) dipped in price 16.11 percent Thursday to $23.23, on volume of 402,535 shares, very nearly four times its full-day volume average. Atlanta-based Oxford Industries, Inc. Wednesday announced third quarter diluted net earnings per share were $0.33 compared to $0.26 in the third quarter of fiscal 2009.
