LPTH runs toward light, SIRI has stronger signal, SBAY sub-par

LightPath Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: LPTH) soared an incredible 89.8% in early afternoon trade Thursday, to $2.60. Volume for this stock was 1.8 million shares, trampling its usual volume of less than 26,000, after announcing new direct-to-China sales channels.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) was a volume leader Thursday, dealing in 35.6 million shares, making headway on an all-day volume of 55.1 million. Share prices were up as well, by 1.6% to $1.70.

Subaye Inc. (Nasdaq: SBAY) listed lower Thursday afternoon by 15.5% to $3.16. Volume of 102, 964 trailed its daily average of 145,298.

OMER gets traction, SIRI gets sued, CREE gets dumped

Omeros Corp. (Nasdaq: OMER) shares gained 10.6% to $6.69. Volume was 154,491 shares, or 2 and a half times the norm, after the biotechnology company said its potential eye-surgery treatment met key goals in a mid-stage study.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) traded in 44.7 million shares by noon ET Wednesday, in contrast to a daily average of 55.9 million. Share prices dipped a bit, though, by 2.4% to $1.67, after Howard Stern sued the satellite radio provider and at least one analyst cut his rating on the stock.

Cree Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) shares fell 11.7% to $43.29, on volume of 14.2 million, towering over its average of 3.3 million, after the LED manufacturer trimmed its third-quarter revenue forecast.

FORM firm, SIRI flat, CELL is selling

FormFactor Inc.(Nasdaq: FORM) shares climbed 14.6% Monday to $9.90, on volume of just over a million shares, nearly twice what it would normally trade in a day, after a Citigroup analyst noted that the provider of test equipment to the semiconductor industry had a large order.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) traded in 30 million shares Monday, and while impressive, it was just barely half of its normal volume of 56 million. Share prices were flat at $1.71, on word that meal ticket Howard Stern announced he was cutting back on his workload.

Brightpoint Inc. (Nasdaq: CELL) fell 15.3% Monday to $10.70, on volume of 2.8 million shares, or four times its normal volume, after the company entered into a strategic alliance with Intcomex.

GTLS tops chart, SIRI volume star, GSS loses shine

Chart Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: GTLS) shares rose 12.7% to $42.74, on share volume of just over one million, triple its average, after the engineered-equipment maker forecast 2011 results higher than analyst predictions.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) bought and sold 33.2 million shares Thursday, making it a volume leader, but shy of its daily average of 52.1 million. Prices jumped 1.5% to $1.71.

Golden Star Resources Inc. (AMEX: GSS) prices capitulated 14.8% to $3.34 Thursday, on share volume of 10.7 million or three times its normal average, after announcing Wednesday full-year gold revenues of $432.7 million, up 8% over 2009, and a net loss of $8.3 million or $0.032 per share.

GASS cooking, SIRI busy, UFPT underwhelms

StealthGas, Inc. (Nasdaq: GASS) shares jumped 7% to $7.01, on share volume of 52,000, pursuing a daily average of 72,429, after announcing net income of $11.1 million or $0.51 per share for fiscal 2010.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) traded in 17.7 million shares Wednesday, compared to an all-day average of 51.1 million. Prices for SIRI subsided 1.7% to $1.69.

UFP Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPT) shares slid 8% to $16.83, on share volume of 171,346, surpassing its daily average of 131,717, after it reported yearly net income of $9.2 million or $1.37 per diluted common share outstanding, 56% higher than net income of $5.9 million or $0.94 per diluted common share outstanding for its 2009 fiscal year.
